It's Fun Facts Friday AirSho Fans! Did you know that the first-ever global 'flying meet' was held in 1909 in Reims, France and dubbed “Great Aviation Week”? While the Wright Brothers weren't in attendance, great aviators like Louis Blériot wowed over 200,000 awestruck spectators. Fast-forward to after World War I, the U.S. government had a surplus of airplanes, such as especially easy to fly trainers like the Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” biplane. Having no use for the aircraft, the government sold them to ex-military pilots and adventurous civilians who traveled the country to perform aerial demonstrations before a paying audience. These “barnstorming” pilots are often considered the first aerial stunt performers. With little regulation, barnstormers pulled off risky moves like loops, barrel rolls, and even flying under bridges or through barns. Stunts like wing walking, parachute jumps, and midair plane swaps were aplenty. One group even played tennis on airplane wings! Today near 12 million Americans attend air shows every year according to the International Council of Air Shows and the Fargo AirSho is proud to be part of those statistics. Join us on July 27 & 28 for some amazing aerobatic performances… although we have to issue a statement to not expect any sky tennis, we're all about safety here people! #airshow #fargo #fargoairsho #aviation #skyhigh #aviationhistory #airmeet

Many people are familiar with the national carrier of Mexico, Aeromexico. Less are aware that Aeromexico faced many decades of competition from what was the other major airline of this populous North American nation, Compañía Mexicana de Aviación, S.A., better known as Mexicana. In fact, Mexicana was, at one point, the largest airline in Mexico with a nearly 90 year history which only ended when economic factors forced its shutdown in 2010. The largest aircraft type Mexicana operated was the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. One is seen here on short final approach to Miami international in 1990. Throwback Thursdays are a weekly journey into the past of our industry. If any of you have specific airlines/airplanes you’d like to see featured, feel free to “drop us a line” and we will see if we can find them for you. https://lnkd.in/g6JxVKkn To listen to our podcast, read the most recent blog posts, or learn how to get involved with FCAP, go to https://lnkd.in/gScVBhWh. #FCAPinternational #aviationindustry #nonprofitorg #airlineindustry #fellowship #christian #airlinepersonnel #crewlife #airlineenthusiast #faithatwork #HeGetsUs #Aeromexico #DC10 #McDonnellDouglas #Mexicana

Never before performance! Qatari Air Force F-15/QA has made its formal public debut in style this week and has been wowing the crowds at the Dubai Airshow. Unburdened by any stores, without its conformal fuel tanks, and with outstanding fly-by-wire flight controls system, the airframe is rated to handle up to 9Gs while maneuvering, but the flight systems can be set to allow for up to 12Gs in an "emergency." Equipped with a pair of powerful F110-GE-129 engines rated for 30k Ib of thrust with afterburners. This is the most maneuverability for any F-15 variant achieved without thrust vectoring performing a tailslide, abrupt pulls, and extreme high-alpha flying. When asked, what is the angle of attack (AoA) limit is on the F-15QA, Boeing said: “There isn’t one.”! #airshow #aviation FL360aero
