“Sales” isn’t for everyone. But then again, hanging radiators in the freezing cold isn’t either (I don’t miss that). The ability to remain positive and calm as deadlines approach can make a huge difference to your team. Good luck to everyone as we approach the end of Q2. 📈

Whenever I'm having a hard day or week, I ask myself this question: How does Jonathan feel at the end of the day/week if he focussed on everything in his control and let go of the things he can’t control. It's common to ruminate on what could've been done differently after a situation ends. In sales, this battle is daily, weekly, and monthly!(possibly yearly)😂 By concentrating on what you can control, you'll notice a significant shift in your well-being and daily approach. Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint—sales included. #focusonthecontrallables #eveningthoughts #sales

Being easy to work with is SUPER important...but there is a fine line between doing what's right for customers, and using your time wisely. I remember one time in particular where a rollstand didn't come in with a monitor that had been ordered. The customer asked me if they could borrow one from my trunk inventory. My first instinct was to say yes, of course! But then I realized it was a four hour drive each way to drop it off...AND pick it up. Two full days out of my life. My local co-worker really encouraged me to help them out, but I kept remembering some advice a wise mentor had once shared with me: "Katie," she said. "Whatever you do, you must fiercely protect your time." I called the customer back and explained that I didn't have enough inventory but that I would do everything I could to expedite the delivery. You know what the customer did? They laughed, and then replied, "Eh, it was worth a try. No worries. Thanks for working on the delivery." And that was it. I just saved myself TWO working days that I could be prospecting, doing quotes, etc. They were perfectly fine with my response and it didn't hurt our relationship at all. Every single day, you must weigh the risk and reward for every request you get, from requests within your company, to customers, and everyone in between and always remember to fiercely protect YOUR time. What would you have done? Would you have driven to deliver the rollstand? #sales #salestraining #marketing

I absolutely adore the film "Tommy Boy," and when it comes to sales, it's hands down my favorite. This scene, in particular, resonates deeply with me. 🎥 Why? Because it encapsulates the importance of confidence in the sales process. 💼 Tommy faces a challenge when the kitchen is closed, but instead of backing down, he leans in, using self-deprecating humor to connect with the waitress and win her over. 😄 His ability to read the room and exude confidence is what sets him apart. 💪 In sales, we often fixate on closing deals, feeling the pressure to meet quotas or retain clients. But this can cloud our judgment and hinder our performance. ☁️ My advice? Take a page from Tommy's playbook. Find ways to relax, trust in your skills, and focus on building genuine connections with your customers. When you do, asking for the business becomes natural. 🤝 Even if things don't go as planned, the most successful sellers I've encountered understand that enjoying the process increases their chances of success. 🌟 Hopefully, you've cultivated a robust pipeline to alleviate some of the stress. As Tommy famously says, "if we didn’t get the chicken wings, no big deal. We still have that meat lovers pizza in the trunk." 🍕 Happy Selling🤜🤛 #sales #confidence #salescoaching [Include the YouTube link: https://lnkd.in/eGai9dWg]

If you are short on leads, try spending more time with the ones you have. I remember during my initial interview to be a sales rep at Mad City, the one and only Dominic Caminata informed me that it was a requirement to be in the home for 3 hours on every lead… I thought he was crazy; who wants to talk about Windows for 3+ hours??? Fast forward a few months, and there I was, sipping homemade potato vodka with a Polish family at 11:45 pm, celebrating the house full of windows they had just purchased. The point is, Dom was right. If you are doing things right, the time will fly by for both you and the homeowner, and you will see your close rate increase and your cancellations decrease. So instead of focusing on getting more/better leads, try spending more time with the ones you have! If you are struggling to figure out how to spend that much time in the home, then you should check out our Virtual Closers Camp next month. We can teach you how to make the most out of every lead! “Okay Lewis, I get it. We can design and engineer for our brains… but I’m in sales!!” Newsflash: We’re all in sales! If you read my last post, you know that long-term and short-term memory work differently. We do not have an infinite attention span… and neither do your Customers. How can you take advantage of this fact as a seller? - Know your Customer’s goals - Know your Customer’s Customers - Bring crisp value to the conversation - Have an objective the the meeting: get in, and get out. Don’t waste time or fill up their short-term memory after you get agreement. Do you remember the Fuller Brush salesman? Classic example. #groundedpilotseries #cognitiveload #sales
