ICYMI: Yesterday at #NCSS2023, Partnerships Development Manager Juan Cabrera shared how schools and districts can support teachers in selecting sources that allow all elementary students to see themselves and understand others through the disciplines of social studies. Here are some of our key takeaways. ⬇️ 🔍 How were sources used in traditional social studies instruction? 📚 One secondary source (textbook) to rule them all 📚 Might contain primary and secondary sources but the textbook draws the conclusion about the source 📚 Learning Experience and Source are one and the same 📚 Even if digital, sources are still basically an exact match to the physical text 🔍 In inquiry-based social studies, sources not only come in different formats, but also serve many purposes, including: 📚 helping to provide evidence to support claims 📚 dispelling myths and preconceptions 📚 exploring different perspectives Learn more about inquirED at the National Council for the Social Studies' annual conference. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g2XG2jkW
