Who are your favorite superheroes? Ours are the Make-A-Wish Hawaii team who planned the annual gala.✨ Hawaiian Host Group was thrilled to partner with Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i (MAWH) on its superhero-themed event as a platinum sponsor. With our company’s purpose being "to make the Islands' future flourish," HHG is proud to support MAWH in transforming lives, one wish at a time and celebrate the local heroes that make them happen. The gala took place at Sheraton Waikiki and honored wish children and their families, who are truly our heroes. The event was complete with a silent auction, live auction, an inspiring performance by Kaylee Shimizu from The Voice, and a fun concert by The Spazmatics. Of course, all attendees went home with a delicious box of Hawaiian Host chocolate. It was certainly a night to remember! Congratulations to Trini Kaopuiki Clark and MAWH on an incredible record-breaking fundraiser this year. Another big thank you to all the attendees and fellow sponsors for supporting this cause! Should charities behave more like consumer brands when it comes to brand strategy? This week, Uttara (Oo-ter-ah) Masting shared her insights with Creative Review on the RSPCA rebrand and the power of thoughtful brand evolution in the charity sector. “Especially in today’s world that is so media saturated and all of our attention spans are so limited. There are a huge number of charities that are all vying for our attention, and like any brand they need to stand out and their mission needs to be communicated in a way that’s really clear.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eRujgdG8 #charity #animalcharity #rebrand #brandidentity

the bank of steelband i see all these people following pan in the prelims and I ask myself: how can steelbands monetize all of this love. you see after the crowds are gone, there are some people in that panyard and surroundings not sure what tomorrow will bring, in terms of basic sustenance so how can stelbands monetize this small window of love? what if we discussed some of these to find the way: 1. they "passed a hat around": a way for performers, and or those in need to collect funds directly from the audience. It could be done in partnership with lion's and rotary clubs in the area; having some fun by crafting some large hats or bags that may be more easily maneuvered in a crowd. long ago steelbands collected their "band fee" from masqueraders by walking through the band collecting 2. ticketed vip experiences: offer special access or perks for a fee, like backstage passes or exclusive seating. this is not to keep the community out, rather it is to have them benefit from the visitors 3. merchandise sales: create and sell branded merchandise related to the event or the organization. 4. food and beverage sales: partner with local vendors or set up a booth for refreshments. 5. silent auction: collect donated strelband themed items and auction them off during the event. 6. membership drives: encourage attendees to become members of the organization for additional benefits. 7. art or craft sales: allow local artists to showcase and sell their work during the event. 8. photography services: offer professional event photography for attendees at a cost. 9. donation stations: set up designated areas for direct monetary contributions. 10. online streaming: Charge a fee for online access to live-streamed events [Pan Trinbago] 11. raffles: sell tickets for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. These ideas can help steelbands generate revenue, while maintaining the spirit of community engagement.

Rainmaker. Foundations, Board Executives and Development Leaders raise six figures without asking for a dime with my strategies so that nonprofits serve more faster.
HOT OFF THE PRESS! Gala Committee VS. The Board My 911 rescue after a 47K spend raised only 33K. Perhaps like me, you've fundraised for 25 years or more and have worn all the hats of ED, Development Officer, Major Gifts, Founder, etc. When Gala time rolled around someone would rise up to be the "Gala Chair" and they would get to work collecting stuff and replicating what they had seen at other galas, or do a repeat of the year before. It wouldn't be exactly the same as they pick a fun theme to include colors, movies, costumes and other fun to add to the party atmosphere. You can rest assured the amount raised would be the same year after year after year. Once I found the formula to raise six figures and more, I never did another gala like that anymore! My journey started when I was a guest and from my VIP table I could see everything going wrong. Here is the number one secret to raising six figures from the old way of thinking of fundraising events. You must involve every member of the board. (I Know what you are saying right now.) "They didn't sign up for this" "They told you they don't like events." "They don't like asking for money" They don't have to like or do any of the above. They are the only people connected to their friends/associates who can be enrolled in your cause at a joyful event. You do not know their people. When they reach out, their friends and colleagues listen. Board members may also be connected to cool experiences you can use in the LIVE auction. You only need 5 items and they do not need to be valued at tens of thousands of dollars. You just need to have a professional sell them for many hundreds or thousands of dollars. This shift will raise you more than you ever have before instead of the old way without a strategy. "It is a disservice not to allow a person an opportunity to make a gift to bring joy to all parties."
