I have had a lot of honest conversations with candidates recently around the state of the market and what it means for them. Some candidates were referred to me, others have worked with us in the past and then there are those that have applied for new opportunities. The crux of it is, the market is candidate heavy at the moment. As employers, we once again find ourselves a bit spoilt for choice after having previously worked to the demands of candidates and what they want. This has meant when speaking with some candidates, their expectations for salary/hourly rates is through the roof... Like the market this will shift and we will hopefully find ourselves back at a happy (and reasonable) medium - soon. While the market is candidate heavy, it is still nice to see some awesome opportunities coming through from our clients. As Senior Systems Engineer at United Musculoskeletal Partners, you'll be on a team building a national technology platform to support orthopedics groups across the country. This encompasses everything from architecture and design to implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of infrastructure systems and associated technologies including operating systems, storage, virtualization, networks and security in both on premise and cloud hosted environments. This includes performance of routine tasks including daily systems administration and backups as well as break/fix support across all of these areas. With minimal supervision, leads the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from security threats. Ensures users are kept informed of changes on a timely basis. Develops and executes test plans to ensure updates are fully tested before going live. Performs spot checks in key areas/scenarios to ensure systems are up-to date as well as to minimize risk to ongoing operations.Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of systems and technologies. Demand has grown for a variety of professions in the ever-expanding field of information technology, including systems administrators, engineers, and architects. Even though each of them calls for a distinct set of abilities to support distinct capabilities, their daily tasks frequently overlap, particularly in smaller businesses where the three aren't always distinguished from one another. Despite having different job descriptions, the terms "systems engineer" and "systems administrator" in particular are frequently used synonymously.
