Interventional radiologists are modern healthcare heroes, but their work comes with risks. Fluoroscopically guided procedures have revolutionized medicine, but they can expose both patients and medical staff to radiation. Our mission at RADPAD® Radiation Protection is to ensure the safety and well-being of these dedicated professionals. A joint guideline from the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe and the Society of Interventional Radiology emphasizes the importance of occupational radiation protection for interventional radiologists. The risks are real, with concerns about cancer and cataracts, but more recently showing risks of anxiety and depression. Don't let your job increase your risk of developing adverse health effects! At RADPAD® Radiation Protection, we're committed to providing the tools and equipment needed for occupational radiation protection. #RADPAD® shields are designed to minimize scatter radiation exposure during procedures, protecting the health of both patients and healthcare workers. We stand by our interventional radiologists and their teams, supporting them in their vital work while keeping them safe from the hidden dangers of radiation. Dear Connections, Here am sharing about "Radiation Protection in Bedside Radiography" Various precautions and safety measures are used to reduce the radiation dose to the technologists and other persons in the ward. The examination should be justified. The exposure should be As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA). Three basic methods for reducing exposure includes Minimize exposure time, Maximize distance from the X-ray tube, Use proper shielding. The inverse square law should be applied. The inverse square law states that the dose gets reduced by increasing the distance. The exposure cable must be 2m long to allow radiographers to stand distant from the irradiated patient. The staff must stand at a maximum distance from the X-ray tube, and nobody should enter the controlled area during the bedside exposure. The radiological technologists should protect themselves with a lead apron(0.25mm lead equivalent),and the patient gonads should be covered with a gonad shield or small lead gown (0.5 mm lead equivalent The personnel monitoring devices should be used, and the radiological technologist should stand at a right angle to the tube The radiological technologist should use correct exposure factors, and the exposure factors should be recorded to avoid repeat exposures. The radiological technologists must use high Kv and low mAs and shortest exposure time and the radiation field size should be collimated The ward staff must stand outside the radiation field and the pregnant women and persons under 18 years should not be involved in assisting bedside radiography The high-speed screen-film combinations should be used to reduce exposure and exposure time. #snsinstitutions #designthinking #snsdesignthinkers

As the number of interventional endovascular procedures rises, so does the need for effective radiation protection measures. In this insightful study, the use of RADPAD® shields, specifically disposable radiation-absorbing surgical drapes, showcased remarkable results. RADPAD® Radiation Protection shielding cut staff radiation exposure levels in half! Staff dose levels will continue to fall lower than the initial observation due to practice in placement, application, and overall radiation awareness while within the lab. Over 40 independent clinical studies back RADPAD® Radiation Protection shields and have been proven to be the Gold Standard in radiation safety. At RADPAD®, we're dedicated to providing innovative solutions to ensure the well-being of healthcare professionals. Our shields offer a tangible way to mitigate the risks associated with increased radiation exposure, allowing medical teams to focus on delivering exceptional patient care. You can learn more about our commitment to safety and efficiency in medical procedures, and join us in championing radiation protection in healthcare.
