This initiative aims to leverage expertise from both hubs to foster innovation through programs like the Lloyd’s Lab and improve educational access. Supported by the Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers (ABIR) and the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA), the partnership will launch a reinsurance cohort in H1 2025, focusing on tackling global challenges. Training opportunities and resources will be expanded, with Lloyd’s Academy programs and Bermuda-based courses being made available. Aviva finalised the acquisition of AIG's UK protection business on 9th April 2024. This follows regulatory approval by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on 28th March 2024. We have clients who use both Aviva and AIG for their Group Risk cover in the UK. We don’t expect clients to see any difference in the market and cover in the short-term. We will have to wait and see if Aviva continues to offer their own group risk products in competition to the new AIG offering, which I am sure will be re-branded. AIG bought a new entrant to the market called Ellipse, in 2018, and this was re-branded to AIG shortly afterwards. AIG’s offering is essentially this company so it will be interesting to see how Aviva integrates this to their own range of products.
