Renault Group has set a new benchmark in the automotive logistics sector with the full automation of its Villeroy logistics facility, thanks to a strategic partnership with French robotics company Exotec. This project marks the first time a car manufacturer has fully automated its logistics operations in this way.
The Challenge and Solution
Renault Group had some major logistical hurdles, including fragmented distribution and outdated warehouses. To address these, they launched the OTAGO project. This project centralized their distribution operations and modernized their facilities, making the Villeroy site the main distribution hub for France. The site now has 191 Skypod robots that streamline everything from receiving parts to shipping them out.
