Today I begin my journey as EY Global Vice Chair – Markets, and as I open a new chapter in my career, I am reminded that change is constant and inevitable – it's one of the reasons I love what I do. I believe, the very heart of change is innovation – and this is something we need more so than ever if we are to tackle some of the most pressing and complex challenges of our age. My colleagues in EMEIA, and those around the world who I have worked with in my EMEIA role, have filled my time with joy and purpose, their appetite and drive to positively shape the world is something I take with me into my new role. All the feels! I will not say goodbye, but - see you soon - as our global network means we are all in this together. A great story about change and how to make it your superpower.

Today I will tell you a story, that I haven't shared here before. So read carefully, please. When I finished my studies and started a career in energy trading, I thought that was it – my path was clear. I wasn't someone who wanted to rock the boat - all I wanted was stability. But then life happened: I changed countries, I changed firms, I changed sectors, I changed job roles. Each move felt enormous at the time - always a step away from what I thought would be my forever country, firm, sector or job role. I was just hoping, this is finally THE one - I don't need any more change in my life. Three years ago, I took up a new role in EY, focusing on a larger region, with people of many different cultures. It was a period of constant change for the business and the team I lead. As it turned out, it was also a moment of truth for me. For the first time, I realized change is the only “forever”, even for my own professional life. And I started liking it. Because, in reality, change is not a detour, it is the path itself. In this journey, I have learnt so much and I always meet new people who inspire me. Most of all, I discovered how to help people see change from a fresh perspective – not as something to fear, but to embrace and drive forward. I wish, I could tell this to the 10-15 years younger myself 😊 I am happy to have found my superpower as a change advocate, where I am lucky to help teams to transform and innovate. Today is my last day working at EY, a wonderful company of wonderful people. After 20 years of working as a Partner in consulting, I am moving on to corporate retirement. Throughout these years, I've worked with fantastic EY teams, creative leaders, and visionaries. I've worked with over a hundred clients who shared their problems and placed their trust in me and my teams. It's impossible to thank everyone, so I won't list individual names. Thank you all for these wonderful years. I probably won't be original in starting my 2/3 project. It's easy to guess what it is. The first and second periods of life are about learning, gaining experience, and building a business. Now, I'm moving to the third stage, when it's time for change and sharing with others all that I've learned and built. This is the stage where, as a mature and conscious manager, I can offer myself to all those in need of advisory at the board level, advice on personal development or business development - a Partner in transforming the current business or building new, innovative technological solutions. I intend to continue lecturing at universities and will write another book. We live in a very interesting moment of technological changes, so I used GenAI to prepare an image summarizing my past and vision for the future in one image. I think Dall-e did a good job (a picture is worth a thousand words). Escher's style fits this very well. Metamorphosis through the eyes of artificial intelligence (but why are there pigeons in the future?). I feel that it's going to be interesting, and I certainly won't be bored. #ey #lastday #thankyou #friends #future

🌟 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐍𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 🌟 Hey LinkedIn fam! 👋 I wanted to take a moment to share a glimpse of my journey over the past year at PwC in the captivating world of Management Consulting, specifically in Operations Management. 🚀 Flashback to day one, and I admit, I was a tad nervous. The thought of interacting with senior management and leaders made my heart race. 😅 But let me tell you, the experience at PwC has been nothing short of fulfilling and surreal. Dreams of being a Management Consultant found a home here, and PwC couldn't have been a better fit. But, like all tales, mine had a few bumps early on. 🤔 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: 1. 🗣️ Being an extrovert or even adapting to new teams weekly? Terrifying. 🙈 2. 💬 My Bengali medium education and manufacturing background had me fearing the English language. 3. 🤝 Reaching out for help? Not really my style. I was all about solo missions. 4. 🤐 Speaking up without absolute certainty? Nope, not me. Confidence was key. 5. 🧩 Every project needing different tools and knowledge? Overwhelming. And now, the plot twist! How did I transition from trembling to triumphing? 🎉 🎯 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬: 1. 📞 Slowly, I found my voice in discussions, even when I wasn't the star of the show. Turns out, my thoughts were valid! 2. 💡 Communication isn't about a Shakespearean vocabulary. Clear and concise is the name of the game. 3. 🤝 No idea is too small. As a consultant, diverse perspectives are our superpower. 4. 🚀 The seasoned leaders at PwC turn our ideas into gold with their wisdom. 5. 🏆 PwC's culture values every employee, creating an environment where I thrive. 🎉 Celebrating One Year as a Management Consultant! 🎉 Reflecting on my journey, 3️⃣ key lessons have emerged: 1️⃣ I’ve learnt how to answer the toughest question facing Management Consultants…"What do you actually do?" My evolving response: “We help our clients introduce the correct processes, people and technology so they can solve complex problems and maximize innovation, sales and customer satisfaction.” Still a bit elusive, but it's a solid starting point! 2️⃣ I've learnt the importance of growing my own skill set. Embracing the wisdom of Cal Newport's book "So Good They Can't Ignore You," I've reshaped my view on what makes work enjoyable. Instead of the conventional advice "Follow your passion," Newport advocates for passion as a byproduct of mastery. PwC has been a fantastic enabler, emphasizing the continual expansion of my skill set. 3️⃣ I've learnt that business is rapidly adopting tech but at the end of the day it's still done by people. 🖥️🧑🤝🧑 Our clients are keen to adopt new technology, especially AI. Yet business is and will always be done by people for people. And it's the great people at PwC who have made my experience here an enjoyable one.
