💡 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 💡 Meet Matthew Monk, a financial associate at Halliday Financial. He joined the team 8 months ago. Let’s learn more about him: 1.   What do you enjoy most about working at Halliday Financial? The people. Everyone here is friendly. It’s a family-oriented business, which really shows in the culture. 2.  Can you share a memorable moment you had during your time here? Both of our Christmas parties, both in the office and out of the office. They were really fun. 3.  How do you stay motivated/productive at work? I focus on the larger goal of helping people. I’m motivated by helping people achieve their goals and reach financial freedom. 4.  What do you like to do with your free time outside of work? I like to play golf and workout. I also enjoy taking the dogs on walks with my girlfriend. They are great Pyrenees and very cute (and large). 5. What’s one thing people may not know about you? People might not know that I’m from Vancouver. Also, I’m a really good cook. (Not to toot my own horn). 6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? I would travel to Iceland and Greece. Iceland is a unique spot to visit. Greece is visually beautiful, along with having great food. Visiting Greece would give me a different idea of Europe, separate from the typical visiting spots such as Italy, France, the UK, etc. 7. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received? If something is hard, it’s hard for a reason. Usually, working for difficult things is worthwhile and pays off. 8. If you could have dinner with any famous person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Tiger Woods. Growing up, I idolized him. He’s one of the best, if not the best, golf players. He also had an insane life that I would love to talk to him about. I would probably ask him what it was like being so successful so early on. 9.  Finally, who’s someone that inspires you in your life? My two brothers. They’re both older than me, so I look up to them. They each took separate paths in life, but they have both gotten to be extremely successful. I want to take a bit of inspiration from both of their lives.

Happy Sunday collogues : Finding that sweet spot between work and family has been a journey. In my industry, it's sadly common to see relationships strain because of crazy schedules and endless time away. When I started my own business, I was scared that I'd lose my connection with my husband. I love him to bits, but I knew this business would demand my all. Everyone talks about balance, but let's face it—having a perfect 50/50 split between work and family time feels like a unicorn. So, here's what I've figured out along the way: 1. Talking it Out: I had a heart-to-heart with my husband. I explained how the first year of my company would be all-consuming. We teamed up on chores and support to make it work. 2. Being Crazy Organized: My day kicks off at a crazy 4:30 am. I hit the gym, sort out work stuff, and try my best to match my husband's hours to spend time together. 3. Making Home Time Count: It's not about having the same days off; it's about making those moments at home truly count. 4. Rolling with the Seasons: When work eases up a bit, I tackle the stuff that usually eats up my time. That way, when things get busy, I'm not drowning in tasks. 5. Drawing Lines: I set work hours and try hard not to let it spill into family time. No phone calls during family hangs—being truly present matters. 6. Learning from Life: The pandemic slapped me with a big lesson: work can't replace time with family. It's priceless. 7. Building a Solid Crew: I've learned that having a team I trust is everything. Treating them well keeps them around for the long haul. Surviving a year in business while keeping my family happy has taught me a huge lesson: talking matters, not just at work but at home. Your home is your main gig, the foundation for everything else. Mess that up, and work starts falling apart too. I'm super grateful for what my work has given me, but I know for sure that my family is my rock. Spend time with your loved ones; everything else will find its place.

I’ll be back ! To have FUN 3 am starts this week , while being the study buddy for my daughters year 12 exams. I watched Arnold , the 3 part documentary on Arnold Schwarzenegger. In between study duties. If you haven’t watched it , it’s a great management learning experience too. He’s been in politics as a very successful senator, property developer, body building etc. He was a millionaire before he was ever a movie star and had a tough start in life in Austria post war. A very simple word he uses a lot in the documentary is; FUN FUN, is a really underused word in management, or as a metric for engagement. Fun, as a word is a small 3 letter basic word, and it’s not as sexy a word as management speak like optics or transparency etc. A simple question in your engagement survey should be; How much fun do you have at work? If you don’t feel work is fun, how can we make it more fun? Arnold talks a lot about having fun and that everything flows from fun. He’s absolutely correct and it is part of any successful person or company. Its always been part of my tool kit when working with my team. If your having fun at work, success, fulfilment, productivity, great customer service and length of tenure all increase. As well as revenue and advocacy . We all know the science of fun, laughing and smiling all release positive endorphins and our mental state of mind is healthier and more vibrant. Sounds simple, it really is, and businesses over complicate the simple fun factor measurement. I think even at times, I had forgotten what a simple thing like having fun at work really does for a business or organisation and most importantly the employees and customers. The world at the moment is stressful and unpredictable. But FUN can be a great antidote to the stresses of the world and workplace and even help people’s mental health. Has your work place terminated Fun? Has your work place said “hasta la vista baby”to Fun? Fun needs to be like “ I’ll be back “ … as soon as ! Then we will all see engagement and results lift exponentially.

As a leader – how much of yourself do you have to sacrifice for your cause & community? I was asked this question at the weekend and my answer was that you absolutely have the choice not to. Of course sometimes the balance tips and we go into overdrive, then we can check ourselves and take that step back to speed up. But the *sweet spot* is that when you are connected to your needs, you deeply respect your mind & body, you have the tools to recognise fixed mindsets and find the growth AND you are aligned with your values & purpose. You do not have to choose, and you get to use boundaries to ensure you are both POWERFUL and CALM. This is why my clients… 🚀  Pull back from working all hours with all clients, to creating and selling experiences that set their souls on fire and create the same level of income as a BASELINE with so much ease (£5k months for context, with the ambition to grow to £15-20k which is going to be doable by the end of the year) 🚀  Hire a team around them and exponentially grow their income (easy 6-figures, growing to multi-6 by end of this year) and have more space and ease than they’ve ever had before whilst they get consistent inbound enquiries and asked to do paid speaking events 🚀  Operate as CEO of 8k people with record profits, and are able to celebrate holidays and special occasions with their family by slowing down and then unplugging so there is no risk of burnout, and never having to sacrifice values If you are reading this then you have the CHOICE not to burnout. I'm posting this picture as a reminder to anyone feeling the need to break free of corporate life that it IS possible. I left corporate work behind more than three years ago. Now, one of my favourite parts to my day is taking The Cookster out for a walk. You see, when I was in corporate I did 12 hour days with barely a break for myself. Now that I run my own business, I get to enjoy the simple pleasure and joy of walking with this adorable pup (and breathing in the great outdoors), every day. Maybe for you it's not walking your dog. Perhaps it's going to the gym or yoga class. A chat with your partner or children. Time to make a healthy and relaxed lunch. Or the flexibility to finish early, or start late. Or not having to work full-time! 🤦🏻♀️The lies I used to believe about time management 🤦🏻♀️ Do any of these sound familiar? ❌Being successful requires long and hard work ❌If you aren't hustling all the time, you'll lose ❌If you want to get everything done you're going to have to multitask ❌You’re only making money if you’re actively working ❌If you don't show up better and stronger than you were yesterday, you're doing something wrong ❌You can’t have a great family life and be successful at work ❌You have to sacrifice if you want both career and family success I used to believe these lies too. And as a result, I was never present in my life. I wasted years of my life in guilt and overwhelm. When I wasn't working, I was constantly thinking about my work and feeling guilt that I wasn't doing something right then. When I was at work, I was regretting how I hadn't been present with my family before I left for work, and wondering how they were doing. Can you relate to this? This is a vicious (and unnecessary) cycle rooted in untruths about what it takes to be both profitable and productive in our business and life. When I learned the actual Truth, I was able to 10X my income while working LESS, being more present with family and feeling far more effective (and joyful) in my daily work. 🌟 I can't imagine now trying to raise my kids without the understanding of how to manage my time and business in a way that is aligned with how I am wired as a woman, rather than trying to push the boulder uphill like I used to think I had to. Us humans perform better, up to 95% better when we have accountability - agree? It’s empowering too. 🙌 we get to cheer each other on 🙌 be there for each other when it’s not going so great 🙌 fill the gaps when the other person doesn’t quite know next steps 🙌 celebrate together! Having that connection and progress is what drives us humans. ❤️We thrive on it ❤️ So when a client of mine said she would love to come on my Accountability Time Wizadry programme - I felt all the wibbles! This client had actually left my business, more than once!! But she has been back like a teenager moving back to their mums house 🤣🥰 We love each other 😆 And do you know why she left? Because she didn’t need me 😥 When this client worked with me originally, part of what we were doing was allocating time in her diary for dog walks / various other personal appts and giving structure to her diary and adding each genre of appt a colour to help her see, at a glance, what was going on that day; i.e if a day was full of work etc. So during our time together I had ‘trained’ her into managing her diary herself! DOH! 🤦🏼♀️ Hence her leaving. We had even been allocating time for her to make personal appts etc so she was doing it all without me 😭 So it was only when she came back as her role had become bigger at work that she said to me that she would like to focus on this again for the 6 months 💫 So despite me delivering this without knowing, I am now offering it as a stand alone service as this client has great results!! AND….(there’s more…!) I have looked at what I do with other clients and I am doing it with those too….(I’m not naming names as you aren’t allowed to leave 😇🥹) So I have one lucky lady starting with me in January and I am only offering TWO spots as I still have other clients to service. Our children are watching us. I found this sticky note on my To Do list this morning (the hourly one that I use along with my weekly one to try to maximize my productivity), and it gave me pause. (The "unknown" speaker is my nine-year-old daughter. 🤣) I get so focused on the hustle it takes to feel "successful" as a business owner that I forget that every day, in every moment, I am teaching my daughters what it looks like to be a founder and a business owner. Every time I say no to yoga or a walk with a friend or journaling or time outside, I am saying no not only for myself but also for my children. I'm showing them the limitations of business ownership and the ways that the hustle comes above everything else. So in this season of growth for my business, I am giving myself permission to pause, to breathe, and to have fun, even if: - I'm not making my target income. - I'm not working all the time when my children are at school or camp. - I'm not finished with my vision for where my business "should" be. Because when I give myself that permission, I find that: - I'm more present and focused in my work and my life. 💫 - I'm more able to clearly see the opportunities that align with my vision. 💫 - I'm happier and healthier and more productive. 💫 - I can show up for my family in a focused, fun way. 💫 While I care so much about my work and the way that I want my business to be, I also recognize that the time I have with my daughters is precious and is so short, and I want the stories they carry with them about business and work to be ones that help them build balanced lives that prioritize life over work. How do you make time for fun in your work week? I have some "work" to do in that department. 😂
