Business Acumen - Speak the language of the business, integrate insights across commercial, clinical, pricing. The level of detail and aspects of emphasis may shift across medical niches or startup vs corporate environments but the above pillars remain integral for CEOs who are dependent on sales heads to execute expansion.

Hiring a Head of Sales too EARLY 🌅 Yesterday we spoke to a founder and here was the conversation: 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: "We made the same mistake as many founders over the last 12 months" 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱: "What mistake was that?" 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: "Hiring a full-time Head of Sales too early" 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱: "Why did you hire full-time?" 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: "We feel into the trap of listening to people that are building GTM from an old playbook" 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱: "What do you think that cost the business?" 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: "12 months and 25% of our runway" The Revenue and GTM landscapes are changing so quickly!  If you get advice from "advisors" and "leaders" - Ask yourself this question: 👉 When was the last time they built a successful GTM strategy? Founders, if you can relate - take a step back of the holidays and assess what you are trying to accomplish!

The corporate world loves to joke about #Marketing and #Sales hating each other. Ok, maybe HATE is a strong word... But we've all seen posts about the two departments not agreeing with one another 🤷♀️ After observing over 100 organizations' team structures and strengths/challenges I can tell you that it is CRITICAL for Marketing and Sales to be on the same page. Companies that I've worked with whose Sales and Marketing departments are misaligned, tend to struggle more than orgs with Sales and Marketing teams that partner together. First, let's GET RID of the idea that Sales and Marketing are playing on different teams. Everyone needs to work together to share unified messaging with customers. If there is misalignment between departments, HOW can you work together to drive success? I always get asked regarding the process that I use to help companies scale.
