Back in 2013 after completing my freshman year of college at a small town liberal arts school, I decided to transfer to a college in a city that I had been to exactly one time and knew zero people! Here's what I learned: - Community matters - Mom often knows best (now that I am a  mom myself, I know this to be even more true 😂) - You have to step outside of your comfort zone - It's okay if your idea of home changes - Sometimes friends can make the best family - Following your heart should always be prioritized - Asking for help isn't a bad thing I still carry many of these life lessons with me today as a business owner, wife, mama and as someone who has a very small circle of friends because as I get older, each point seems more and more universal. Is publishing your podcast each week draining you? I have 3 tips that will help you make sure you are getting your show live each week. 1️⃣ Create a simplified workflow that is broken up into clear sections with step by step tasks, with specific steps and descriptions. Even better if you import this into Asana or ClickUp! 2️⃣ Create templates for promotion that are easily duplicatable, this makes your design process so much easier and quicker. You can do this with static graphics or video! 3️⃣ Choose one to two days a month where you can batch record your episodes to be more intentional and save time throughout the rest of the month. These 3 things will help create some simplicity and consistency so that it doesn't always feel like you're working on the fly the day before your next episode is supposed to air! All the jobs I quit before opening my own podcasting agency 👇 – Working retail… I actually loved this job and all of my co-workers. It was for Chelsea Collective, a boutique women’s athleisure store by Dick’s Sporting Goods. Sadly it ended up closing, though. > I learned so much about sales from this job. We got little bonuses for how much we sold and it taught me how to really listen to what people want vs. what they need. – “Marketing coordinator” at multiple places that really just lured me in with the job title and it was more grunt work than anything else. > I think this is how I started to become a jack of all trades. I’d learn anything I could to consistently get better at my job. – Selling dōTERRA oils… I still use essential oils to this day (though not as much as I used to). I just didn’t want this to be my business. > I learned direct selling is hard AF. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make a full time job out of it. I definitely learned a lot about being uncomfortable. – Account Manager at an online business management agency… This was the job that introduced me to not only virtual work, but the world of podcasting. > I got a really good foundation of what it means to own an online business, the type of women that I want to work with, and of course the beginnings of my own work in the podcasting industry. I could go on, but TLDR; I’ve held a lot of jobs that might not seem like they make a full story, but I’ve learned so much about the work that I love, the leader that I want to be, and the art of blooming where I’m planted. 💬 What was your last job? . . . I’ve heard that the concept of the Know, Like, Trust factor (KLT) is dead. Butttt I don’t know if I agree, especially when it comes to podcasting. I don’t know if there’s anything else (that’s free) in your business that can cultivate relationships as intimately as an intentional podcast can. It’s not *just* another marketing tool in your business. You’re connecting your voice with your story, your messaging, your beliefs. You’re giving your listeners a true BTS not only into your business but to who you are beyond an entrepreneur (and you can do it in a way that feels aligned, not forced). Every time you show up, you’re giving your audience the chance to know you more, to like you more, and to trust you more. What do you think? Is KLT dead?  . . .
