#Egypt’s future is being shaped by its youth. Today I had the pleasure meeting with a fantastic group of our young talents at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. These regular meetings are not just about monitoring progress. They're about fostering a culture where fresh perspectives and innovative ideas thrive. I strongly believe in the power of youth to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Their talent, energy, and passion are an inspiration and an essential ingredient in building a brighter tomorrow. These get-together meetings provide a platform for them to share their unique viewpoints and propose solutions that drive development forward.

Green hydrogen is the last mile, in the journey to #netzero. On the sidelines of the Egypt EU Investment Conference, I was proud to witness significant progress towards this goal, with numerous agreements to develop green hydrogen and renewable energy projects in Egypt. Scalable clean energy solutions present a home-grown opportunity for an equitable transition to avert the adverse impacts of climate change. By combining local and global expertise, these public-private partnerships will unlock the transformative potential of green hydrogen to decarbonize multiple sectors, from transportation to industry. This marks a significant milestone in achieving our ambition to transform #Egypt into a regional hub for green hydrogen production by 2026 and a global hub by 2030, opening up a new era of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Class of 2024, your colleagues will not just be peers, they’ll be your teachers too.   In Arabic, the word ‘teacher’ does not just carry one meaning.   There’s a difference between المُدَرِّس who teaches a specific subject to students at a set time and place, and المُعَلِّمٌ. The latter, is anyone who shares knowledge with you, like a mentor, parent, sibling, colleague or a friend. They’re the teachers that we encounter throughout our lives, in any situation.   The beauty of Arabic’s rich vocabulary reminds us that a single word can hold multiple meanings, just as a single experience can teach us many things.   Learning is not confined to classrooms or lecture halls - sometimes, the most important lessons come from simply observing and listening to the world around us.   As a student, and as former Dean at the Cairo University, the classroom, for me, transcends its physical walls. It is a stage where I could rehearse my future role as a leader and envision the possibilities that awaited me as an adult.   This experience taught me early on that the spaces we inhabit, whether classrooms or meeting rooms, are never meant to confine us.   Today, as a policymaker, I approach every meeting room with a student’s mindset. I strive to create a space that resembles a classroom – one where everyone actively learns, participates, and even teaches each other.   We are all lifelong learners, constantly acquiring new knowledge and applying existing skills to real-world problems.   To all the learners, whether you’re in a classroom or a boardroom, I encourage you to always bring a student’s curiosity with you wherever you go. Stay open and stay hopeful. Congratulations on your graduation.

Egypt and the European Union share a deep-rooted and strategic partnership, underscored by today’s joint Investment Conference. The event, attended by H.E. President Abdel-Fattah ElSisi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, unveils over €40 billion in transformative programs and agreements across various sectors, set to drive job growth, skills development, food security, and sustainable development. At the conference, I highlighted that reform is a continuous process. #Egypt's comprehensive reform agenda has been the driving force behind our growth, enhanced competitiveness, and resilience in the face of adversity. This decade-long journey of transformation has been a collaborative effort, with multi-stakeholder participation from the government, private sector, and civil society. Our reform agenda centers on invigorating key production sectors – agriculture, manufacturing, and ICT – while simultaneously liberalizing policies and regulations to empower the private sector. We are dedicated to boosting productivity and fostering deeper integration of these sectors into the broader economic landscape. A cornerstone of our approach is private sector engagement. We are investing in infrastructure, nurturing small and medium-sized enterprises, implementing tax incentives and reducing the state's economic footprint. By leveling the playing field between public and private entities, we are fostering an environment that attracts FDI, fuels healthy competition, and unlocks the full potential of the private sector to drive development. Recognizing that our people are our most valuable asset, we are prioritizing the development of human capital. We are focused on job creation, while simultaneously cultivating a skilled workforce equipped to thrive in the digital economy. Central to our vision is a commitment to social protection, rooted in the fundamental human right to development. We are dedicated to advancing inclusion, empowering #women economically, and ensuring that every Egyptian has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from our nation's progress. #EU #EUInvestEgy

I had a productive meeting with representatives from 50 top British companies across #tech, environment, water, #infrastructure, and finance. This was during the visit organized by The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the UK Department for Business and Trade, the British Embassy in Cairo, and the UK Export Finance, to explore opportunities for mutual investment. We delved into #Egypt's Vision 2030 framework, prioritizing policy formulation, sectoral development strategies, and strategic investment allocation to build Egypt’s tomorrow, today. A key focus of the discussion was The Sovereign Fund of Egypt’s role in attracting private-sector investments. We all looking forward to building strong partnerships that drive #sustainable development and achieve our collective ambitious goals.

Building a thriving and sustainable future starts with a healthy population. This is the National Planning Institute’s theme for the 4th Edition of its Annual Conference, which aims to address health’s role in achieving #sustainabledevelopment; perfectly aligning with the #globalgoals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Proud of this conference and of the Institute’s efforts in bringing together experts from different backgrounds to address social, cultural, and knowledge-development challenges. Over the span of 2 days, the conference dives into critical development issues that shape our future, with health at the forefront. I look forward to a productive conference and a future where health empowers a sustainable world and builds Egypt’s tomorrow, today.
