The Youth Summits are a new Academy initiative where we partner with Youth Boards across locations to explore youth-driven, collective leadership and to co-create new learning ecosystems. Three weekends ago we gathered with our friends in Washington, DC, for the DC Youth Voices Summit, a three-day learning experience designed by young people and led by young people. The DC Youth Board crafted a learning space based on collective reflection, artistic expression, and friendship. Together, we investigated how creative and reflective practices prompt transformational learning for young people, and we uncovered three ways adults and young people can support youth-led learning. 1) Adults can support youth-led learning by contributing time, energy, and resources to youth-led learning spaces. 2) Young people can begin to imagine youth-led spaces by reflecting on what inspires them and what they care about. Then, they can think about how they would like to share their inspiration and care with others. 3) Together, young people can reflect on the question: What do you and your peers want to co-create for your community? Do you have ideas about how to support young people in leading their own learning? Tell us in the comments! If you are a young person or know a young person who would like to join an Academy Youth Board, visit https://lnkd.in/g4r-X577.

The countdown to #SXSWEDU is on – and it’s up to you to help shape the 2024 conference experience 🌟 Community voting on SXSW’s PanelPicker is LIVE and it makes up one-third of their entire programming process. There are so many phenomenal sessions to vote for and we’re proud that our panel on #EquityCommissioning is featured among them. Equity Commissioning (Ecx) is a transformative approach to school design that intentionally centers those most impacted by inequity. Through Ecx, we can co-create inclusive engagement strategies, design solutions, and accountability measures alongside underrepresented communities to ensure they see their identities and lived experiences reflected in their learning environments. In this session, Karina Ruiz, Allison Brown, and Pat McCreery (Beaverton School District) will explore how Ecx’s sustained commitment to transparency and rigorous accountability have the potential to inspire just outcomes and meaningful social change in the classroom – and beyond! 🚪20 of the Chatsworth Schools Advent Calendar isn't opening, it's EXPANDING..... ......just like our two Girls' Schools! 2024 is massive for The Village Prep School and Highfield Prep School as rather than looking at watering down these schools into co-ed 'products' to suit a spreadsheet, we are doing what's right for the schools, and most importantly the girls, who will continue to benefit hugely and thrive through a girls-only education. We will never rest on our laurels in the development of our schools whilst always putting children first when it comes to the decisions we take and the visions we create for them 💜 We're extending the age ranges at both schools from a leaving point at Year 6, all the way up to Year 11 and remaining proudly girls-only. Founding Year 7 classes will open at both schools in September '24 and a new year group will open every year after up to Year 11. Our Senior School spaces will include improved facilities, including outdoor space, that will benefit pupils throughout the schools, with facilities developing annually as they grow. 💪 🚀 So from now, the 'prep' element of the school name will disappear and we now proudly have Highfield School for Girls, and The Village School for Girls 🙌🏻 Regarding learning and teaching at these new Senior Schools, our mission is to pioneer a girls' senior curriculum rooted in the Chatsworth Schools’ Tapestry framework, with a strong emphasis on creativity and creative thinking. We will provide an educational experience that surpasses expectations for nurturing future female leaders, thinkers, and innovators for the 21st century and beyond. We will be sharing much more about these two fabulous schools and their exciting journeys ahead very soon...😉 We're so excited about this development and it's our latest commitment to girls' schools and girls-only education. We believe passionately in the power of choice in education and cannot wait to see older girls thriving and creating their own outstanding futures in Maidenhead and Belsize Park 🙌🏻 There's no stopping Chatsworth Schools. Together we are awesome! 🦩 #seniorschools #girlseducation #girlsonly #femaleleadership #creativity #day20 #chatsworthadvent Kirstie Hampshire Sarah Wallace

📚✨ First Implementation Phase of SPAQUE Initiative! ✨📚 In the age of technological advancements, the clinging residue of chalk dust on blackboards should be a thing of the past. However, the harsh reality is that underfunding and neglect continue to tether many public schools to outdated teaching tools. At SPAQUE Initiative, we believe in setting the stage for effective literacy education by transforming the atmosphere of our classrooms. We're thrilled to announce our inaugural project phase: "Installation of White Boards" 🌟The vision is clear – to replace outdated blackboards with modern whiteboards that breathe life into our learning spaces. We recognize that an inviting environment is key to kindling the flames of curiosity and learning in the hearts of our children. But, dear friends, we can't do this alone. 🤝We invite every passionate individual and forward-thinking organization to unite with us in this transformative endeavor. Let's collectively usher in a new era of education, where classrooms are vibrant, engaging, and conducive for effective learning. Your support will not just install whiteboards; it will be a catalyst for change, sparking a renewed desire for learning in the hearts of countless children. 🌈 How You Can Help: ➡ Contribute towards the installation of whiteboards and be a direct force in shaping the future of education. ➡ Share our mission with your network. The more people know, the stronger the impact. ➡ If your organization shares our passion for systemic change, let's join forces for greater impact. Together, let's turn the page on outdated teaching tools and script a brighter future for the children in our communities. 📢 Tag a friend, share the vision, and let's make classrooms places of inspiration! Evolving 'school' towards community engaged learning models || Co-Founder and Partner Learn Deep Milwaukee
Workshop 1 of this week's series is in the books. We met with a great group of (mostly) higher Ed faculty this morning to discuss a vision for adoption of experiential learning (PBL) and community service at the college and university level. The group identified community identity, breaking through silos, equity and social justice pedagogy and a loooonnnngg timeline as the significant components of a vision for how to foster a well and thriving community in Milwaukee. What might be both an aspirational and inspirational vision that exemplifies this? What if we invited students to answer the question: "What will it take to grow Milwaukee to a thriving, desirable 1M resident city to live and work in by the next centennial of its founding?" and followed that up with: "what will be your role in making that happen?" As educators we discussed common hopes and fears that might impact whether a vision such as this could successfully impact the way we teach, develop talent, instill empathy and how we effectively grow the involvement and support from every stakeholder group in the Milwaukee community. Over the next couple of weeks we'll be exploring some ideas for experimenting with community involvement, and we agreed to gather during Learn Deep's upcoming #STEMStudio design workshops to continue our exploration. Thank you to today's participants: Prof. Arijit Sen (UWM-History), Dr. Benjamin Trager (UWM-SET), Matt Marino (Nathan Hale), Kelsey Otero (Marquette-Community Engagement), John Horky, FAIA, Prof. Krisann Rehbein (UWM-SARUP), Dr. Joan N. Shapiro Beigh (UWM-Business), Dr. Andrea Ventola, PhD EIT (MSOE-CREATE). Next: we develop a vision for youth voice, mental health and learning culture that enables every learner to grow and blossom in Milwaukee. Interested in learning more or getting involved? ✔ sign up for our newsletter on the website (learndeep.org) ✔ Follow our Learn Deep Milwaukee page or our principals Pete Reynolds and Joost Allard ✔ Plan to join our '#STEMStudio' design workshops in late July. #visionforeducation #1MillionMKE #talentpipeline #experientiallearning #communityengagededucation
