According to CCTV News Client, the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that since the beginning of this year, China's lithium battery industry has continued to grow, with the country's total lithium battery production increased by 31% year-on-year from January to October.   Data shows that from September to October this year, the country's total lithium battery production exceeded 185GWh, a year-on-year increase of 17%, of which the yield of energy storage lithium batteries exceeded 38GWh, and the installed capacity of power lithium batteries for new energy vehicles was approximately 76GWh. And in the last 10 months of this year, the country's total lithium battery production exceeded 765GWh, a year-on-year increase of 31%.   Lithium battery exports also continue to grow. From September to October this year, the country's total lithium battery exports reached 82.46 billion yuan(11.55 billion USD), a year-on-year increase of 21%.   Since the beginning of this year, China's lithium battery production have maintained high growth overall. From September to October, the output of cathode materials, anode materials, separators, and electrolytes reached 430,000 tons, 300,000 tons, 2.7 billion square meters, and 200,000 tons respectively, with an increase of more than 25%.

From January to August, cumulative lithium battery production in China reached 456.2 GWh.

The 20MWh #sodium ion #battery One Pack's cube #energy #storage system is being tested in its Nanning Industrial Park.   While the development of #sodium ion battery energy storage systems is accelerating, the application of #sodium ion batteries in new energy #vehicles has taken a step forward. #Chery, JMC, JAC and other #automotive companies have all released new energy #vehicles equipped with #sodium ion #batteries, with #battery suppliers from #CATL, #Farasis Technology, and #HiNa Battery.   Capital is also striving to seize the window period before the industrialization of #sodium #batteries, seeking to cultivate unicorns in the field of #sodium ion #batteries. The battery industry is moving super fast: companies are looking to establish a vertical business along the value chain and the fundamentals are always the same: local demand availability of renewable energy competitive production cost local industry able tu support with whatever is needed: logistic, reagents, raw materials, technology, ESS. Sodium-ion batteries are going into electric vehicles and lithium bulls (miners, salt producers, and gigafactories) should be unbiased and objectively take note. On 28th December 2023, one of the first sodium-ion batteries applicable for EVs produced by Farasis Energy has come off the production line. The first ZMC Yizhi EV3 251km sodium-powered EV rolled off the production line on the same day. The sodium-ion battery energy density is between 140-160Wh/kg, and the discharge capacity retention rate at minus 20°C can reach more than 91%. Farasis Energy is also planning to bring a second-generation sodium-ion battery with an energy density of 160-180Wh/kg in 2024 and increase energy density further up to 180-200Wh/kg by 2026. · My view would be to assess the competitive landscape · How soon cell producers will be able to qualify into EV auto companies, and vice versa · Most importantly, undertake a product performance and cash cost analysis comparison Western countries and Continental Europe are at risk once again by being outperformed by Chinese companies, not only in terms of cell producers but also component materials like the cathode, anode, and electrolyte enterprises. However, it should be noted that ternary batteries will still maintain their niche high-performance market, and LFP battery technology is improving with each generation, so there could be iterative technology improvements along the way which will help in lithium-ion battery technology in maintaining its market share. Sodium-ion batteries will provide an increase in demand for sodium metal and its compounds, which can be produced from sodium chloride salt. Now we are seeing a decline in world prices for battery metals, but the long-term price dynamics has not yet been determined.

Sodium-ion #batterymanufacturing capacity is expected to grow significantly, with a predicted 350% increase in production capacity from 42 GWh to 186 GWh/year. 📈 The market value of sodium-ion batteries is expected to exceed 1 billion EUR by 2030, with compound annual growth rates (CAGRs) of more than 10%. Currently, Chinese manufacturers are primarily responsible for this growth, with nearly 95% of sodium-ion battery production anticipated by 2030. Europe-based sodium-ion battery technology firms Tiamat and Altris have secured a total of €29 million (US$31.5 million) in new funding, from a fundraise round and the Swedish state respectively.
