Gustavo Grodnitzky, Ph.D. (he/him)’s Post

Out of sight, out of mind I recently had the pleasure of leading a workshop on generational dynamics for Mark A. Shapiro’s group, and we delved into some fascinating discussions about workplace perceptions. A key point that resonated was the Baby Boomer mindset: many Boomers tend to believe that if they can’t see you working, then you’re not working. This belief can significantly impact workplace dynamics, especially in today’s flexible, remote work environments. So what can we do about that? For Boomer Leaders: - Trust and Transparency: Transition to a trust-based management style. Focus on outcomes rather than physical presence. - Embrace Flexibility: Recognize that productivity isn’t tied to a desk. Embrace remote work tools and flexible schedules. For Employees with Boomer Bosses: - Communicate Clearly: Keep your boss informed about your work progress regularly. - Show Reliability: Be consistently reliable and deliver on your commitments to build trust. Understanding and bridging these generational gaps can lead to a more cohesive and productive work environment. Would you like to drive productivity by helping your teams learn and understand each other? Schedule a generations workshop with me, or sign them up for my new Generations Master Class, and let's enhance understanding and collaboration in your workplace. Thank you Danny Farne, Craig Costa, Erick Blake, Gretchen LeMay, and all those I can't tag for the insightful discussion! #GenerationalDifferences #Leadership #RemoteWork #WorkplaceCulture #TrustInTheWorkplace #hybridwork #powerofvistage Vistage Worldwide, Inc.
