Had an amazing time with everyone at our recent Culture Trumps Everything workshop! 📸 Here’s a fun selfie with all the participants holding up their non-dominant hands—a little exercise we do to practically demonstrate and experience a culture shift. During the workshop, participants had to raise their non-dominant hand to ask questions. Initially, it tends to feel uncomfortable and many would forget - then others in the group would point out. Some people will start delf correcting, and others will raise their hand and state "non-dominant" to assure everyone they're behaving appropriately. By the end, everyone could do it with little effort. This small, yet powerful exercise demonstrates how behavior change can lead to a significant culture shift. It’s these small steps that pave the way for bigger transformations in our organizational cultures. The importance of culture in the corporate world is not something new. In the early '80s, the first books connecting culture with business success were published. That's almost 50 years ago! This video made me think a lot about how much we talk about culture and its importance in companies, and how much effort we put into defining and fostering that culture. It also made me consider how challenging it can be to have the right leaders who lead by example, showing the way for others to feel inspired and understand what good behavior looks like. However, what happens to culture when our companies need to survive economic crises and global events? Can we maintain our culture, or is it a luxury for times of abundance? If it's as important as we think it is, maybe it's not a bad idea to bring culture into the conversation and plan around it as we plan for change. #OrganizationalCulture #Leadership #CulturalTransformation
