THE INGLIS MEMORIAL HALL Our Director Willie Watt PPRIAS has been surveying this fine Category A Listed building in his role as a Conservation Architect at Nicoll Russell Studios Ltd It’s a really interesting building which was a bequest to the town and houses a unique library with its original books and card record system, a village hall complete with stage, balcony and dressing rooms, lesser hall, committee room, clock tower and once upon a time a flat for the family of the caretaker. It is often interesting to view a building in a variety of conditions as this reveals different issues. Willie’s first visit which allowed him to prepare his first draft of our report was undertaken after the area’s lengthy period of rain and floods, whilst as you will from this photograph his second visit was undertaken on a crisp icy day with snow on the ground. In doing this work he does get around a fair bit which is always interesting and informative. There is so much heritage around us and Edzell, the Angus Glens and their other gateway towns on the edge of Strathmore particularly so. Keep an eye out for this great building if you visit the area. He will shortly be revisiting the building for a 3rd time and we wonder what the weather will be like and what that will reveal when he does that. If Nicoll Russell Studios can help you with your listed building do get in touch. #architect #architecture #conservationarchitect #conservation #fabricrepairs #repairs #buildingmaintenance #building #construction #listedbuilding #nicollrussellstudios #angus #dundee #property #heritage #heritagebuildings #heritageconservation #survey #surveying #fabricrepair #conservationrepairs

Did you know that landscape architects can design green roofs that save you money? Aside from looking great and providing a haven for wildlife, a green roof also effectively insulates your roof, significantly lowering your heating and cooling costs.

Elevating the exterior of your property is one of the quickest ways to increase the property's value. It is the first thing people see when they arrive, and the last thing they see when they leave. Architecture is all about creativity and optimizing design functionality. Adding pops of colors, using innovative techniques, and incorporating various lights and shadows are all different ways to achieve great architecture. But sometimes the best design elements are found in nature. Integrating nature and wildlife into your designs can create more sustainable projects and environments. Not only will these buildings blend beautifully with their surroundings, they'll also bring us closer to nature. Town Planner & Urban Designer | Council & Development Approvals | Project Delivery | Property Investment | Smart Cities
Approval ✅ Project Name: Dual Occupancy Development with Underground Carpark Location: 30 Ruby Street, Balwyn Client: Melegant Group The Task: The client sought to develop the land for two double-storey dwellings, and associated buildings and works in a Neighbourhood Residential Zone, containing four car parking spaces and demolition of existing dwelling. The Outcome: The fully illustrative architectural drawings were completed by CJY Architects, and they were able to shed light on the importance of the design of the proposed development. The proposed high-quality dwellings were designed to maintain the residential amenity in the local area, which respects the existing building forms and provide a leafy front garden and generous setback along the side and rear boundaries. The development was designed to provide generous open space with well distanced setback from side and rear boundaries, to minimise off-site impacts to abutting properties. The development has enhanced the landscape and environmental values of natural areas by providing a significant amount of landscaping along the street frontage. With multiple similar developments in the same area zone, the proposal received a desirable outcome from the council and a permit was issued for the development. #townplanning #approvals #development

American Society of Landscape Architects #WLAM | Day 30 – Outdoors for All What’s one word that comes to mind when you see the phrase, ‘Outdoors for All’? That’s what we recently asked our friends across social media, and we couldn’t be more in tune with the results. We can all agree, that for the outdoors to truly be for all, it must be welcoming to all walks of life. From plants and organisms to people of all ages and backgrounds, design must always be rooted in being kind – to people, to communities, and the ecosystem at large. This is landscape architecture. #WLAM #thisislandscapearchitecture #edsaplan #planning #design

Landscape Architecture makes the urban living enjoyable!!
April is World Landscape Architecture Month, an opportunity to celebrate landscape architecture and designed public and private spaces. To celebrate this year’s theme, “Growing Together,” we’re highlighting our recent landscape architecture project at the #Daytona Beach Riverfront Esplanade. The park, which has been the center of the downtown Daytona Beach community for generations, underwent a full revitalization with the addition of a new botanical garden, dog park, running trail, community gathering spaces, and much more.
