Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Second Workshop on #Multimodal #AI 2024! 💫 During the workshop, I had the privilege of giving a talk on ‘Interdisciplinary Multimodal AI Research’ to share the dynamic research happening at the AI Research Engineering (AIRE) team at the The University of Sheffield Centre for Machine Intelligence. I was also reminded of the incredible network we have within this community... Connecting with researchers from academia and industry provided me with many insights into using #multimodal data across various domains. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the keynote speakers and fellow researchers, whose innovative work and perspectives were truly inspiring! The potential of #AI to achieve greater goals is immense and ready to be unleashed. One of the highlights of the workshop was learning about the latest innovations in #healthcare AI. I am excited to learn how omics, imaging, textual data, and more are used to improve patient outcomes. The potential for AI to transform personalised medicine is particularly promising. Thank you to the workshop organisers and all the brilliant minds who made this event a success. When planning new topics for future Gazette issues, the need to address the role of AI in current global health challenges was undeniable. However, as a doctor of veterinary medicine armed with a team of ambitious vet students, I realized our best efforts would not be sufficient to tackle such a technical topic. As a strong believer in interdisciplinary collaboration, a solution was swiftly identified and IVSA SCOH joined forces with Brain Juice. With this partnership, we gained more understanding of this technology and discussed some roles AI could play in addressing some of the most relevant health and sustainability challenges today.
