We are on a mission to expand into the major markets of Texas: Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin. Our approach is a blend of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Acquisitions are not easy. Finding a great match—a company that aligns with us both culturally and operationally—takes significant time and effort. Anyone who has been involved in an acquisition, whether acquiring or being acquired, knows that integrations are challenging, to say the least. I am leading our M&A project, which involves numerous calls and meetings with MSP owners and leaders. Getting to know other MSP business leaders is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my job and definitely the most enjoyable aspect of the M&A process. I always learn something new and try to share something of value. Most of all, everyone's story and journey are always fascinating and often inspiring. If you have someone who is a game changer in your business, get behind them, incentivize them, and give them the autonomy to do great things. Let them be what they are meant to be! Let them be GREAT! Last week the M&A Forum (Mergers & Acquisitions Forum) hosted their monthly luncheon and the guest speaker Hugh Sazegar, PhD was amazing. He had so many nuggets of wisdom that it was hard to consolidate them into one post. I highly recommend you get to know him. Hugh is a Vistage Worldwide, Inc. chair, and leaders would grow from his peer groups. My passion is about "key people planning". The standout moment for me was how Jason Wright, the current owner of Avatar Managed Services, was a catalyst for their growth. Jason was a 🦄, and Hugh recognized it. Jason was the epitome of a "game changer" and brought immeasurable value to their organization. Hugh empowered him, gave him autonomy, and worked collaboratively with him to build a business that was head and shoulders above their peers. Too often, business leaders can feel threatened by key individuals like Jason, stifling growth. Remember, the biggest asset that fuels wealth in a business is the key people.
