Talk about growth! Today marked significant growth on multiple fronts. Over the past two years, our team has expanded, our new patient care tower has progressed from a construction site to a state-of-the-art facility, and Veronica Bonilla, our Manager of Volunteer Services, has grown tremendously. Today, Veronica led our team through an orientation of the new space, showcasing her dedication and leadership. We are so excited for the new tower to open. Love when life brings you organic moments of connection. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of having dinner and a great conversation with Cutler Andrews, the Chief Experience Officer of Emory University. We connected not only on our ideas about the future of organizational culture and consumerism but also as humans. The concept of the human experience is foundational in our work—his in #HigherEducation and mine in #Healthcare.

Just completed the CommonSpirit Health Operations Leadership Academy, a 6-month executive #LeadershipDevelopment program!! Surrounded by my fellow cohort of extraordinary leaders, we ended the program with a commissioning, reminding us that what we do is not a career but a calling—a calling to make God’s healing presence known in our communities. As our cohort goes forth, I pray that God continues to prepare us for the journey ahead and that we arrive at any doors He opens humble and ready 🙏🏼. Today was a highlight moment. In our final week of the Operations Leadership Academy, a 6-month development program hosted by CommonSpirit Health, we completed our final research presentations. I’m honored to be part of such an amazing group that we coined “Team Awesome.” We discussed the importance of leaders keeping an eye on burnout and implementing strategies to ensure our teams, especially providers, feel a sense of belonging. Without this focus, there can be a negative impact on overall clinical outcomes and #PatientExperience. #LeadershipDevelopment #Teamwork #EmployeeWellbeing

Blessed to share my thoughts of industry trends in this recent Becker's Healthcare article: “I am closely following consumer behavior trends, both within and outside of #healthcare. By examining where people receive their content, what engages them, and how they interact with companies, I can identify key pain points and opportunities. We are seeing an increasing importance of the digital front door, the need for short video clips to push out content, and how technology solutions aid in streamlining operations. This insight informs strategies to enhance patient and family experiences, as well as to boost #engagement and satisfaction among healthcare staff. I am on a #GratitudeJourney, and something I learned is to fully let the moments that fill your cup to sink in. As a leader, team engagement, bonding, and development fill my cup. Today our Patient Experience team reflected on the fiscal year by each presenting - what we bring to the organization, what we need from each other, and the legacy we want to leave our community with. Today commemorates #WorldSickleCellDay and #Juneteenth! It is essential to recognize the intertwined significance of these observances in the Black community. Juneteenth acknowledges the end of slavery in the United States, symbolizing freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality. World Sickle Cell Day aims to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), the most common genetic blood disorder that predominantly affects individuals of African descent. I am proud to serve and help lead in an organization that emphasizes the importance of these events, the continued journey toward health equity, and the call to highlight the stories of our diverse community. Ask someone you know what these days mean to them- learn their story!

Pride Month is a time to honor the trailblazers who paved the way for the continued journey towards equity, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community. From selfies in the hospital lobby to walking in the LA Pride Parade, this month was filled with celebrations adorned in rainbows. Let's continue to celebrate the impact and vibrant diversity of our LGBTQ community. As we reflect on the significance of Memorial Day, I am reminded of my own father's service as a lieutenant in the Air Force. With a heart full of gratitude, I honor all our soldiers, especially those who watch over us from beyond. It is because of their sacrifice that I am privileged to sit in my kitchen, writing this post in a country of freedom and safety.
