Web Summit 🇵🇹 ==> One of these events where the FOMO is real. 👇🏼 70,000+ attendees 800+ speakers 2,600+ startups 900+ investors 2,100+ members of the media 20+ stages Where do you start? How to get the most out of it? In such events #prioritization becomes key. And of course one of the greatest values of such an event is the opportunity to network and make meaningful connections. It's not always easy and it could be difficult, especially for more introverted people to be proactive and make the first step. But in reality many people are on the same boat. They are also willing to talk to people, but not comfortable to start a conversation with someone new. Make a move. Introduce yourself. Even if it's a group of people talking. It's ok. It's a conference. It's a networking event. In some rare occasions you might feel the energy is off. And perhaps the group had some private conversation or the vibe is not matching. That's ok. Just kindly wish people a good day and move on to the next group. A great piece of advice I learned from Jack Canfield. When you are not feeling comfortable at a networking event, just imagine you are the host of the event. It's a mindshift and it works. As a host it's your job to stop by all the people and ask them "Hey how are you guys feeling? Do you need anything? Enjoying the event?". Once you open the conversation you are in and you can continue networking. Nicoleta Pîrvu and I definitely have met many great people. ✅ Exceptional event and I hope to see you on Web Summit 2024!

It all started with one story... At the lowest point of my life, fear took hold of me and I was afraid of everything. I was afraid to take a professional step and afraid to venture far from my apartment. I remember walking in the park and the voice in my head telling me it was too far, that I should turn back. One night, I attended an event at Tech Hub. I was terrified to ask a question, and when prompted by the moderator, I raised my hand but couldn't speak. During the networking session, I had a conversation with another entrepreneur who opened up and shared how his company had recently failed and the impact it had on his personal life. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn't the only one who hadn't figured everything out. I felt inspired, I felt courage. I found the courage to take the next step. I knew that if this guy had been on stage, the whole room would have felt the same. So, I decided to create an event called "I 💜 Failure," where we would share stories of failures and lessons learned. Since that first event, in 6 years we have hosted over 60 small events, with 3000 attendees and over 300 failure stories shared. With each event, I was inspired to take the next step, feeling more and more courageous. To have a real impact on society, we knew we needed to go big. So, last year, we decided to turn it into a legitimate conference at the National Opera House. We had 1000 people, 300 companies, and 40 speakers. This year, we are taking it to a new level. Based on what we have learned, our focus is and will be on having the most inspirational stories on stage and inspire as many people as possible. Only 1 day until regular ticket 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 by 34% for I LOVE FAILURE 2024 - INNOVATION Conference See you soon!

I've been slacking on my event/networking post. I attend quite a few events virtual and in-person. I recently attended the Houston Black Tech Symposium virtually, by Blacks United in Leading Technology International, lead by Peter Beasley and his team! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, the talks, and the networking. For a second, I debated catching a flight to Houston. I had a chance to hear some great folks talk: - Marcus Bowers, this brother was enlightening us on some big gems in the Data space. His insight into turning Data into Dollars, using marketing and tech to create revenue growth opened my eyes to the level of importance and opportunity on some things that I've been overlooking. - Hearing Jonelle A. 's wildly empowering story opened my eyes to the journey of others into the tech space. Despite the many odds and still able to overcome, is motivation to believe no matter the set back, it's possible. - Melvin Hillsman, a smooth laid back brother with an energy I resonate with, shared some knowledge demystifying the AI/ML space for the common man, and getting practical hands-on work. Definitely took away some great resources and tips here. - Robyn Doughtie, I appreciated the insight, and you sharing your journey to CIO. Inspirational to say the least! - Lenny Saizan, another individual that incited some inspiration, shared with us what it take to get funded as a tech startup, and his experience in the venture funding/investing space. Indeed had my ears to keyboard during this talk, as I am new into this start-up space. - Jeffery Dickerson, dived into the crypto space, speaking on block chain, smart contracts and the cool and interesting work they have going on with their block chain ecosystem, Copper Network, at Kontrak IQ. Loved seeing the duet/couple partnership, between him and Thaija "Thai" Dickerson, MBA, MS. - Shern Peters, my mind was blown, I haven't tapped too much into the personal Air Vehicles space, so I was caught off guard with the progress, and to see a brother moving the needle in this space. My old college self that played a lot with hardware, arduinos, rpi's, and quadcopters was having a field day as I was experiencing this talk. Would love to stay up to date. I believe you two should connect, Yemaya Bordain. - Gary Graves, I didn't get a chance to catch your talk. My Day 2 was quite busy. However, I indeed enjoyed chatting with you brother. Looking forward to catching you at the next conference, BDPA. - Timothy Earl Butts, Sr. MSIS, CPHIT, I didn't get a chance to hear your talk but heard you speak during another's. I was excited to see something like BDPA still moving, as it was the started point to my tech career and influenced me to get to where I am today. Would be thrilled to connect at the conference coming up in August. - Ifeanyi Okafor, thank you as well for your insight on AI/ML and its impact on the world.
