Celebrating 10 Years of Foodgen2 一代传一代, 一代胜一代 Today, we mark a significant milestone as we proudly commemorate the 10th anniversary of Foodgen2 (FG2)! This remarkable club was born with the noble mission of providing unwavering support to 2nd generation food business owners like ourselves, and what an incredible journey it has been. A decade ago, visionary minds in the food industry recognized the unique challenges faced by second-generation business owners, mainly when working within a family business and alongside our parents. These challenges often require a delicate balance between maintaining family dynamics and achieving business goals. At times, we find ourselves grappling with obstacles that are difficult to comprehend for those outside our circle. Sharing such concerns with our biological siblings might not always yield the understanding and advice we seek. But that's where the true beauty of FG2 comes to light. We discover a treasure trove of shared experiences, empathy, and wisdom within this community. When I joined FG2 a year ago, I could not have anticipated its profound impact on my life. It felt like reconnecting with a long-lost family – a network of brothers and sisters who not only understand our challenges but can also offer valuable guidance based on their journeys. Together, we have cultivated a nurturing space to freely exchange ideas, learn from one another, and grow personally and professionally. The power of camaraderie and mutual support is immeasurable, and FG2 has become my second family – a sanctuary of shared ambitions and aspirations. As we celebrate this momentous occasion, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of FG2. Your openness, authenticity, and willingness to lend a helping hand have transformed this club into an extraordinary community. We have proven that collaboration triumphs over competition and that when we stand united, we can overcome any challenge. #Foodgen2 #FG2 #Anniversary #SupportiveCommunity #SecondGenerationBusiness #FamilyBusiness #Camaraderie #Gratitude #SuccessStory

There are so many things I loved about this webcast with Kassi Tom-Rowland. Kassi is part of a multi-generational farm, started by her grandfather. Under Ambassador Kip Tom's stewardship, Tom Farms has grown to be one of the largest farms in the US. Some of my favorite quotes from her translate so well to every business, irrespective of their size and industry! 1) On dealing with adversity: "It is so important to know you are going to have hard days, but there are going to be so many more good ones." 2) On a new customer: "We are always humbled when people ask us to farm their land." 3) On advice to new businesses: "...you should know your customers and what kind of relationships they want to have with you." UPDATE: A representative of Berkeley Bowl Marketplace reached out to me directly, in addition to commenting on the original post, confirming that their employees did NOT put those stickers on. Instead, they were vandalized, and have made it clear they have a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind. I feel duty-bound to try to spread the word, since I know reputational harm can be difficult to undo, and people pay more attention to the headline (or picture) than the details. It is a good reminder for me (and hopefully everyone) to take everything we hear, see, or read with a grain of salt (or, even better, a spoonful of hummus!). (Original post): This presents an interesting fact pattern for a law school final exam: A reseller of a product puts it own labels on the product in protest of the product's origins, labeling it "contaminated" based on alleged wrongdoing of the country that is believed to be the source of origin, and not on the ingredients or quality of the product itself. What causes of action might the manufacturer have against the reseller and/or the employees who affixed those labels? (Note: regarding the post being forwarded, I am unable to verify if it was employees adding these labels on their own accord or whether it was done with the proprietor's knowledge and consent, or even whether it was done by noon-employee third parties. Although it is noteworthy that whoever did this felt it was obvious that "Zionism"--which literally refers to the desire of Jewish people to have a state in (at least some portion of) their ancestral homeland--is a form of "contamination.") All views are my own.

Starting to feel out-crazied by all the anti-Israel stuff going on, Berkeley steps up its game! Reportedly seen at Berkeley Bowl Marketplace. Sabra is an American company, using American made chickpeas in its hummus. So it is actually not Israeli goods. And with 60% of the market share, this effort would hurt American farmers more than Israel. However, it is co-owned by Straus, and also by Pepsi. 𝙐𝙋𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀: Steve Tsujimoto general manager at Berkeley Bowl wrote that they will be "investigating this situation further and if we are able to identify the vandals, we will take appropriate measures, meanwhile, our teams are aware of this incident and we have increased monitoring of Sabra and other products we believe might be targeted." THANK YOU!

We invest in extraordinary families, funds, and founders. Logistics venture capital, creating connective tissue between legacy industry families, funds and founders building the future.
The family office and the trucking company are independent. Trimac makes operational trucking decisions, and the family office makes all investment decisions. This is because we invest at pre-seed, seed, and A, and typically, corporates roll out at series C and later. The investments are only made for financial return; investment evaluation has no strategic component. Basic Clay Christiansen Innovators Dilemma.

Thank you InterGen for yet another enriching Wine Wednesday session where Jeffrey McCaig and Trevor Adey shared their inspiring journeys and insights into their work. Here are some highlights that resonated with me: 1. Jeff's remarkable family history and his relentless pursuit of knowledge, embracing new avenues along his educational journey. 2. The McCaig family's profound involvement in sports at various levels, advocating for equitable pathways for children to pursue their passions. 3. Exploring how Trimac and the transportation industry adapt to change and stay proactive rather than lagging behind. 4. Commendable investments by Trimac Transportation as LP in innovative ventures, broadening their access to knowledge and innovation. 5. Fascinating discussions on the future of the transportation industry, particularly regarding AI integration and advancements in vehicle technology. Excited for the 2024 Wine Wednesday sessions, anticipating diverse guest speakers, and reconnecting with our incredible community friends. Looking forward to more engaging conversations and insights ahead! 🍷✨ #Calgary #Alberta #Transportation #Innovation

Bossville Farms, a legacy family-run hemp farm based out of South Carolina, for instance, has managed to successfully add value to their agricultural processes. For them, adding more agricultural value involves transforming raw hemp materials into a variety of products and uses. This includes harvesting, drying, extracting cannabinoids like CBD and formulating products, quality testing, packaging, and marketing for distribution. These techniques make hemp farming economically viable because they provide several income streams while catering to various industries and consumer needs and increasing the range of hemp-derived products, from CBD oils to textiles, that maximize the use of different hemp components. However, the same concept and techniques can be applied to just about any other raw material. #Agriculture, #Sustainability, #FarmingInnovation, #Donate, #HighTunnelRenovation, #EcoFriendlyFarming, #GreenAgriculture, #SupportFarmers, #BossvilleFarms, #FarmingForTheFuture #Forbes #SouthCarolina #HamptonCounty
