With unwavering determination and the support of my hardworking parents, I pursued higher education and completed my schooling against all odds. Navigating a career path that defied expectations in my hometown, I often found myself mistaken for a flight attendant due to my frequent travels. However, this misconception only fueled my passion to challenge stereotypes and redefine success on my own terms. My purpose now extends beyond personal achievements; it is a commitment to empowering young girls in my community to dream fearlessly. I believe in expanding horizons and breaking free from the constraints of predetermined career choices. Every girl deserves to envision a future where hard work and ambition pave the way to boundless opportunities. Give them encouragement as they pursue their professional interests or encourage them to put up their best efforts and produce their best results so that you can one day be proud to stand behind them.

In a world where traditional roles often dictate our paths, Peace's journey into politics is nothing short of inspirational. Coming from a family with strong expectations for her future, she faced significant resistance when she chose a road less traveled. The question arises: How often do societal and familial expectations deter us from pursuing our true callings? Peace's determination to become a youth councillor, despite her family's hopes for a different future for her, challenges us to reflect on our own career choices. Are they truly what we desire, or are we conforming to the expectations set by those around us? This case study not only highlights the obstacles women face in male-dominated fields but also the power of support—sometimes from unexpected sources. Peace's brother, initially pushed into a role he did not want, became an unlikely ally in her political aspirations. As professionals, how many of us have had to confront similar challenges? 🚀 Introducing Womenland - Empowering Chinese Women in the Diaspora 🌏 I'm thrilled to introduce Womenland, a capstone project that my group members Juliana Wang, Kessi Lin, and I have poured our hearts and souls into. Womenland is more than just a project; it's a movement to empower Chinese women in the diaspora through impactful narratives, community building, feminism education, and media initiatives. 🌟 Our Mission: Womenland strives to highlight collective and shared experiences, becoming the medium for unheard voices to shine. We advocate for the fusion of Chinese heritage with Western experiences, addressing unique obstacles that women often face. 🌐 Our Initiatives: Womenland is not just a concept; it's a dynamic organization with two key sectors: Nonprofit and For-Profit, each serving a specific purpose. The Nonprofit sector focuses on education, resources, media content, and support systems, while the For-Profit sector helps generate revenue through partnerships, sponsorships, advertisements, podcasts, and merch. 🗣 We're incredibly excited about the potential impact Womenland can have on the lives of Chinese women in the diaspora. Happy International Women’s Day. I have mixed feelings about this as I’m sure many others do. At times I wonder why we single out women.. surely that makes equality further from our grasp. But at others, I think of this as a reminder of how far we have come, and how far we have yet to go. The time is now, for both men and women. 💪🏽 🌍The time is now to be your own advocate, to believe in yourself and trust that you are meant to be exactly where you are. 👩🏽💼💻The time is now to set an example for your seniors and peers and pave the way for those that come after you, that you can flexibly balance a career and raise a family and it’s no biggie. 👶🏽The time is now to be a role model for your daughters. Show them how to recognise and question each injustice. Show them how to be strong and fearless, confident and daring. 👦🏽The time is now to teach your sons the history of what has gone before them and why it must change. Teach them compassion and empathy and that it’s ok to cry. I’m hoping by the next generation we won’t be celebrating women’s day… because we won’t need to.
