📣 #Tourism and #hospitality organisations in #Scotland! The Scottish Parliament’s Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee has now issued a Call for Views on the Visitor Levy (Scotland) Bill. The Bill gives Scottish local authorities the power to introduce an additional charge on overnight stays in most types of visitor accommodation. Accommodation providers will be responsible for collecting the levy from visitors and paying it to their local authority, with the net proceeds to be used to develop, support, or sustain services and facilities that are substantially for and used by people who visit the area for leisure. As a policy that which will have a significant impact on the entire sector, including the supply chain, the STA encourages as many businesses as possible to submit a response to the consultation ahead of the deadline on Friday 15th September. The Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) has developed a visual Guide with key considerations and suggested responses to support the sector to answer the questions in the consultation 👇
The Scottish Tourism Alliance has published a guide to support the tourism and hospitality industry to respond to the Visitor Levy (Scotland) Bill Consultation. FAO all Scottish Tourism and Hospitality Business, key supporters/ stakeholders and suppliers to the industry- this guide we hope will aide your response to what is another very live tax policy which is in process the #TransientVisitorLevy(TVL)! It will/ could have significant positive and negative implications for the sector and will be an additional cost for anyone who elects to stay overnight in paid for accommodation of any type. This is on the assumption it were to be taken forward and ultimately implemented by a Scottish Local Authority. We therefore actively encourage all tourism hospitality, events , leisure and retail business operators and those in the sector supply chain to respond to the consultation by #15Sept - In the guide you will read there remain many considerations to be taken and many questions to be answered. Scotland can ill afford to get this policy wrong should it be taken forward by an authority. There must be 100% consideration given to what’s proposed and definitive clarity must be provided for every aspect of this tax policy should it be adopted and implemented both for the industry, the local authority and most importantly the visitor who will be asked to pay the levy

🌟 It's not the "Good" Ocean Road for a reason because as they say, the enemy of "good" is "great". With spring in the air, stellar lineup of speakers and a room full of great minds, how can we not be excited for the Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism Great Expectations Tourism Conference next Tuesday? My presentation revolves around the concept of an 'Online Reputation Renaissance' delving into the realm of surpassing expectations that inspire a process of renewal and transformation. How do you think the concept of 'good' vs. 'great' applies to online reputation management for a tourism business or destination? For me, what carries greater weight than merely seeking reviews is the fusion of courage, curiosity, and sincere, genuine care factor. Amidst the realm of digital interactions, it's the infusion of human greatness that guides a path towards authentic progress and meaningful improvement. Excellent work on putting this together Jo Birley Liz Price and team, can't wait to see everyone ❤️🙏 #GreatOceanRoadConference #GreatEpectations #FromGoodToGreat #TourismInnovation
