I was super lucky to celebrate 1 year of joining the LEGO Group with a fantastic Bricknic - one of the many occasions the company sponsors for us to experience first hand the importance of playing with our colleagues and our families...especially our kids! While it is a brand many people dream of working for, few actually know the rich history and heritage the brand and the company have, and how it's different from most other companies out there. It definitively took me a while to discover these differences and there is still much to learn! Three things I learnt during this year are: 1) A private company can operate at a fast pace- when you have a clear vision and glidepath to achieve it the lack of a quarterly drumbeat does not make things slower (to the contrary!). 2) Doing things the right way is more important than getting things done- and there is so much leadership and courage that goes into not only making the right decisions, but making them right for all the stakeholders, without leaving anyone behind. 3) Just like when you play- curiosity is a key factor in having fun! When you apply this concept to the corporate world, the meaning of "feedback" acquires a completely different meaning. Staying curious about what our customers think about us, our colleagues, our vendors means continuously identifying opportunities to do things differently and better. And as you keep digging deeper you keep finding opportunities and that keeps the game fun! Cheer to the LEGO Group and its Leadership Playground, a wish for all of us: be focused, be brave and be curious.

Imagine having a team work in secret all year long to surprise and delight hard-working employees with a bespoke holiday season gift. This year, I'm the one who has been working in secret to treat the employees of LiV Medical Education Agency during our December holiday party. I cannot wait to surprise them with the game I've created. Senior leadership gave me carte blanche, and the result (without giving too much away!) is a team-building challenge that ties in to the important work we do. PROST! der Beifall I survived my first Toy Fair, Nuremberg Spielwarenmesse (I was always a Kowloon guy) and it was an amazing, gratifying experience. It was massive…too vast for my eye to grasp.  To me, it was a strategy game, plotting my way from Hall 12.0 to 12.1 to 4.0 and back.  It was fast, strangely calm, organized, and fulfilling.  Aside from a hell of a cardio workout, it was fun schmoozing with our global clients, colleagues, and friends old and new, and looking at the toy world from a macro lens. It was Weiner Schnitzel and beer, smiles and handshakes, and products too numerous to count across every category of play. My experience at Nuremberg was a reminder that I work and play in an industry unlike any other. How lucky am I to be among such an interesting, quirky, empowered, passionate, international group of big kids?  As I walked the halls, I couldn’t help but notice that everyone I passed had a twinkle in their eye, a hop in their step, and a smile on their face.  And that was before the Red Night parties started. Nuremberg kicked off 2024 and set the stage for an exciting year ahead.
