Politics and Macro Something like 40% by population of the globe has significant elections over the next 12 months. One gets the impression that most electorates are fed up with their incumbent governments. This has an interesting (but not entirely surprising) relationship with consumer confidence (CC). Argentina has highest CC read for 12 months, next up to the voting booths is the Netherlands – October was highest CC read for a year. A few changes at helms around the globe could well have the same impact. Pretty basic but improved consumer confidence should = more economic activity. #elections #consumerconfidence #politics

The first round of #France’s snap legislative #elections on June 30 saw President Emmanual #Macron’s centrist Ensemble #coalition trail behind the far-right National Rally (#RN) and the left-wing New Popular Front (#NFP). We expect each of the major parties to fall short of the 289-seat threshold for a majority, though the balance of power in the National Assembly is set for a major rightward shift.
