Leaving the nurturing arms of Angel Oak for the promising horizons of Stiles Point on James Island was a leap into a new chapter of my teaching career. Lured by the allure of a quaint neighborhood school and guided by the wisdom of a mentor, I found myself at the doorstep of an opportunity that resonated. Interviewing with Principal Steve Burger, I felt an immediate connection with the school's vision, eager to dive into this new adventure. Extraordinary Educators Walking into Stiles Point, I was welcomed into a fellowship of master educators—Katie, Dana, Barbara, and Mary Beth. Their classrooms were realms of wonder, where every child's voice was heard and challenges transformed into triumphs. Amidst our brainstorming sessions, I marveled at their meticulous planning and innovative approaches. They were my Yodas, imparting wisdom and igniting a drive within me to push the boundaries of what I believed possible in education. Student Creativity: Diving into Roald Dahl's universe with The BFG was always a favorite of my students. We ventured through Giant Country, sipped Frobscottle, and embraced the quirks of friendship with a giant. The pinnacle was a student's ambitious project—a life-size BFG that towered in our library, a monument to the power of creativity when students are encouraged to dream big and bold. The Game-Changer: The arrival of the Smartboard in my classroom changed everything. Rolled in during the suspense of state testing week, it quickly became our window to interactive learning. Bye Bye overhead projector. From constructing rollercoasters on Rollercoaster Tycoon to sparking lively discussions, it reshaped our educational experiences. This tool not only transformed my teaching approach but also catapulted me into a new role helping teachers realize the potential of meaningful Smartboard use for Charleston County. Reflecting on my journey at Stiles Point fills me with gratitude for the incredible community of educators, students, and technology that shaped my path. It was a chapter filled with learning, laughter, and the kind of memorable experiences that forge lifelong passions in education. “How have you navigated the exciting challenges of introducing new technologies or projects? Share your tales of educational adventures and the moments that have defined your teaching journey.” #jobjourney #TeachingAdventures #Innovation #LifelongLearning #hardworkpaysoff

Manufactured Home Sales Consultant and Trainer | Transforming the Manufactured Home Sales Industry and Sales Culture: Maverick Sales Trainer | Disruptor of the Status Quo | Champion of Excellence
I remember growing up on the inner West side of San Antonio, Texas and loving my life. for those of you that don't know, the inner West side of SA is pretty rough. I attended Edgewood ISD schools which has always been one of the poorest school districts in Texas. Although, at the time I didn't really know what the difference was except for people drove nicer cars, had better clothes, and much nicer homes. I didn't even think that their schools were better or that their education was better. I loved my life...until my freshman year in high school. I can't say that I hated my life once I became a freshman, but my eyes were opened to the difference in lifestyles and what all came with that! You see, I was accepted into a program that allowed me to take my math and science classes at San Antonio College which was and still is one our local community college back then in 1988. There is where I saw the difference. I was out of my comfort zone, and I was exposed to a whole new lifestyle, and I LOVED IT! I have always loved learning. I guess that’s why starting this business has been great for me because I have had to learn so much more! The most important lesson I learned was that you need to level up in life if you want a different lifestyle! Since then, I have always tried to learn all I can, be a person that tries everything, and someone that always looked for guidance through others that already knew what I was trying to learn! MENTORS! That is what helped me get from the inner West side of San Antonio, Texas to where I am now! There is still a long way to go but I know I’m on the right path! If you're in manufactured home sales, you can get me and my team as your mentors and it won't cost you more than a dinner out in the town! Only $99 per month and you can start taking your life to the next level! Bravo to two recent efforts getting the word out on the value of college! 📣 The National Association of Higher Education Systems (representing 65 state systems from across the country) created their “College is Worth It” social media campaign to change public perceptions on the value of higher education with stats like a 65% income boost. Well done Jason E. Lane, Tristan Denley, and team! 🚎 The Gates Foundation US and Strada Education Foundation and Roadtrip Nation have organized a road trip and public television series about how people find their paths with students sharing their stories, stopping at campuses, and meeting experts along the way. Can’t wait to tune into this. Applications are due 4/14 so spread the word! What are you doing to communicate and increase the value of #highereducation? I’m working on this problem from the top down and bottom up. 🎓 At Buro Happold we work with #collegesanduniversities to enable #studentsuccess with better facilities, support services, and technology. 📗Through my book How to Get the Most Out of College, I get the word out to students and families that it’s not just where you go to college but what you do while you’re there that determines value and drives #collegeROI in #highered
