Check out this terrific piece by Smart Cities Dive that focuses on USHSR's new high-speed rail start-up advocacy guide. We especially want to thank lead author and USHSR Coalition member Bernard Cohen of ACI. As the author notes, initiating a high-speed rail line is "not for the faint-hearted." https://lnkd.in/gm-5tkme

Challenges in bringing back transit riders after COVID - and already declining ridership prior to COVID - will lead to a $730 million annual "fiscal cliff" beginning in 2026 after federal emergency funds are expended. New and innovative strategic plans from RTA and Metra, CMAP's Plan of Action for Regional Transit, and legislation sponsored by State Sen. Ram Villivalam and Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado to consolidate the RTA and its three service boards are all bold steps to leverage the moment to fundamentally rethink how we deliver mobility in Northeast Illinois.
