We are thrilled to announce Brenda Yakle as this year's recipient of the Distinguished Bill and Ann Turner Community Service Award recipient! Brenda, our Banking Center Manager Assistant Regional in Lebanon, MO, truly embodies our commitment to understanding what really matters. Her advocacy for domestic violence survivors and contributions to Lebanon's economic development make her a shining example of volunteer excellence. In honor of Brenda's dedication, we have donated $1,500 to her charity of choice, COPE, a domestic violence shelter in Lebanon. Please join us in congratulating Brenda for her outstanding service and commitment!

Congratulations to Debbie Shantz Hart for being awarded the 2024 ATHENA award by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. When you Google “fall in love with finances,” one of the first search results is “Should I marry for love or money?” We can’t answer that for you, but what we can help you with is gaining a solid understanding of financial knowledge to support yourself. Like learning to read and finding love, financial literacy is not something anyone is born an expert at, and it’s okay to admit we all have more to discover.    Great Southern offers a Financial Education Center that could be called a money version of Match.com. The program will ask you a series of questions to gain an idea of what you, as an individual, are most interested in learning about. Imagine having a date that asks questions about you for once! These work-at-your-own-pace lessons allow you to fall in love with finances without all the pressure of typical dating.   Like any perfect date, Great Southern will pick up the bill. By this, we mean these courses are accessible to anyone, regardless of whether you are a Great Southern customer. These lessons are a guaranteed good date that doesn’t even require you to leave the house.    At the end of the day, no one can answer the lifelong question of whether someone should marry for love or money, but this Valentine's Day, we can tell you that the best investment you can make in a relationship is the one you have with yourself.
