Juneteenth is not just Black history; it is American history. It is a celebration of freedom, opportunity, equity, and access. We honor #Juneteenth not only through recognition but also as an opportunity to learn and grow as a company. This week, our Black Employee Network Employee Resource Group will host a panel discussion, Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom and Resilience, for the entire firm exploring the history and lasting impact of Juneteenth while also addressing the current landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition to honoring and celebrating the remarkable strides and achievements of the Black community, we will provide resources for community members and allies who want to learn more and take action to promote positive change and progress. We encourage everyone to learn more about Juneteenth's significance, the complex history of the struggles faced by the Black community, and how to get involved in progressing equality in and outside the workplace.

🌟Celebrating Black History Month in the UK 🌟 As we commemorate Black History Month in the UK, it's essential to honor the rich and diverse contributions of the Black community to our society. This month serves as a reminder to recognise and celebrate the achievements, resilience, and cultural heritage of Black individuals throughout history and in the present day. One of the pioneers in the UK is Mary Pierre-Harvey. She decided to become a chartered quantity surveyor entering a white-male-dominated construction and property industry. In 2019 she became the UK’s first Black female director of estates at a large UK university. Mary once said: “I have walked through the valleys of the shadows of racism, sexism, bullying and unequal pay, which I have experienced directly from white and male managers and which were meant to break and destroy me completely. They have only served to make me stronger, wiser, more empathetic and stand taller. Different doesn’t scare me.” Let's take this month as an opportunity to amplify Black voices, support Black-owned businesses, and educate ourselves on the history and experiences of Black people in the UK and beyond. Together, let's strive for a future where diversity is not only embraced but celebrated in every aspect of our society. #BlackHistoryMonth #ConstructionUK #UK #Diversity #Inclusion

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day of liberation and reflection. On June 19, 1865, over 250,000 enslaved Black Americans in Texas finally learned they were free—more than two years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. While Juneteenth marks the end of slavery, it's important that we remember and acknowledge that the journey to freedom was long, and the fight for equality and equity continues today. A more equitable and equal society is possible through our combined efforts. By educating yourself and sharing what you learn, advocating for change, engaging with local organizations focused on social justice and helping amplify those voices. Engage with organization like the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, who are actively dismantling barriers and expanding black-ownership in the running industry. What are some other organizations that deserve our attention for their work in creating a more equitable world?

Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history. On this day in 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston, Texas, marking the end of slavery in the United States. This day represents freedom, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of equality. Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our history, acknowledge the progress we've made, and recognize the work that still lies ahead in the fight against systemic racism and inequality. Let's take this opportunity to: * Educate ourselves and others about the significance of Juneteenth and the history of African Americans. * Support Black-owned businesses and initiatives that uplift the Black community. * Advocate for change and stand up against racial injustice in all its forms. As we celebrate today, let's recommit to fostering an inclusive and equitable society for all.
