While I was picking my neice from school who is in 5th Standard, One thing she said caught my attention. Kids these days know what ChatGTP is and use it for their assignments. While it’s good to use technology to get the work done quickly but I still believe that using AI to get the basic tasks like writing an email or getting a presentation done really takes a toll on our mental skills to curate, think and implement. When I say our mental development then think how much this would be impacting the kids. Strategic thinking would really lack in the coming generations, if we get too much dependent on AI. Life advice via AI? Yup. Google DeepMind has been working with generative A.I. to perform at least 21 different types of personal and professional tasks, including tools to give users life advice, ideas, planning instructions and tutoring tips. The project’s idea creation feature could give users suggestions or recommendations based on a situation. Its tutoring function can teach new skills or improve existing ones, like how to progress as a runner; and the planning capability can create a financial budget for users as well as meal and workout plans. The tools are still being evaluated and the company may decide not to employ them. In today’s fast-paced world, I often lose awareness of how much I actually accomplish each day. My personal experiences show how easy it is to overlook the small yet significant moments of life: from daily shopping to inspiring conversations, to moments of learning and reflection. This is where AI steps in to help. Thanks to technology, I can capture and appreciate these moments by creating visual representations of my daily experiences. For those struggling with memory loss, such images can become a key to maintaining mental activity and a means to counteract feelings of exclusion. By using AI to stimulate memory and preserve experiences, we open new possibilities for the elderly and those with memory problems. This tool can enrich their lives, helping not only to remember but also to participate in and enjoy daily experiences. After all, AI is not just about the future and innovation. I’m thinking about my children, who will now both be in high school this coming year, and whether or not I’m doing enough to prepare them for AI. Obviously we’re stocking canned goods and cricket flour in the basement for when Skynet arrives, but what about the day-to-day parts around generative AI? I use ChatGPT Plus multiple times a day, and we're building AI functionality into FormKiQ. So obviously I know it's important, but I'm mostly thinking of how it affects organizations, not my family. Is anyone exposing their kids to tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney, or seeing some movement in schools toward this? Will I regret not making this a bigger priority? Unfair access to these technologies in Canada is particularly disheartening, especially considering our active contributions and collaborations with multinational firms that have offices in both the USA (Silicon Valley) and Canada (Ontario).
