Do you know that unhealthy consumerism 🛍️ has a profound psychological impact on consumers?. The fashion industry’s promotion of ever-changing trends fosters a sense of inadequacy and a perpetual need for newness, leading to compulsive buying behaviors and financial strain due to a man-made void. You, yourself have to change first, or nothing will change for you ! RURI show you how to shop with purpose - 5 helpful tips #ruri #shopwithpurpose #sustainablefashion
𝟓 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 Fast fashion has dominated our closets for too long, but we're witnessing a shift towards conscious consumerism. It's time to ask the right questions and make informed choices. Here's your arsenal for a fashion revolution: 𝟏. 𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬? Challenge your shopping habits. Fast fashion thrives on impulse buying. Let's prioritize necessity over want. Fashion should be about self-expression, but consider the impact of your choices. Take a step back and ask yourself, "Do I really need this?" 𝟐. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐝? Look beyond the price tag; the fabric matters too. Opt for natural fibers like cotton, but be aware of their sourcing. Seek Fairtrade and Organic certifications, and explore eco-friendly alternatives like hemp, ECONYL, and Tencel. 𝟑. 𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭? Peek behind the scenes. Does your favorite brand openly share its practices? Do they disclose factory information and supply chain details? Reach out to them directly if you seek more answers. Transparency is non-negotiable. 𝟒. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟑𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬? Longevity matters. Build a curated wardrobe with lasting quality and timeless style. Examine the seams, fabric, and envision the piece beyond the current season. Choose pieces that will accompany you on a meaningful journey. 𝟓. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬? Demand transparency. Let's know the faces behind our clothes. Support brands that have strong connections with their factories and monitor their supply chains closely. No more hidden hands in the fashion industry. It's time to make a different. #FashionRevolution #ConsciousConsumerism #SustainableFashion

👗🔥 The Dark Side of Fashion: A Trend We Can't Ignore! 👚🔥 The 21st century has unleashed a fashion frenzy, but not all that glitters is gold. 😔 Thanks to cost-cutting measures and a seemingly insatiable desire for newness, clothing production DOUBLED between 2000 and 2014. The extended version of the "what to ask before buying" list ✅🛒 In a world where fashion choices have a profound impact on the environment and many marginalised communities globally, it's crucial we consider the afterlife of our clothes before making a purchase. By considering what happens to our clothes after we're done with them, we are able to make more conscious choices and invest in high-quality, timeless pieces that will last longer and reduce the demand for constant new purchases - and ultimately play our part in reducing fashion's worrying textile waste, pollution and resource exploitation problems. So before you plan your next shopping trip with your besties or click add to cart, ask yourself these 6 questions! #buyresponsibly #consciousconsumerism #askbeforeyoubuy

As an account manager, I help companies reduce their energy consumption, and sustainability is a huge passion of mine. This naturally extends to my clothing choices. While I love clothes and expressing myself through fashion, I believe true style goes beyond chasing fleeting trends. I recently, "Worn" by Sofi Thanhauser and it opened my eyes to the complex stories behind every garment. It’s about five fibres: linen, cotton, silk, synthetics and wool. Thanhauser exposes the harsh realities of the fast fashion industry, from its exploitative labor practices to its devastating environmental consequences. It's a wake-up call, urging us to consider the true cost of the clothes we wear. For me, being stylish isn't about keeping up with the latest fads. It's about building a wardrobe of timeless pieces that seamlessly blend and offer endless outfit combinations. Personally, thrifting has been a fantastic way to find unique pieces that reflect my personality, often at a fraction of the retail cost. What resonated most with you from this excerpt? How do you balance personal style with mindful consumption? Let's spark a conversation about conscious fashion choices in the comments below! #fashionrevolution #sustainableliving #ethicalconsumption P.S. "Worn" is a must-read for anyone interested in fashion, history, or becoming a more responsible consumer.

Leaving music for the time being, NICA’s #ThisCuriousLife magazine gets inquisitive about the crossroads of fashion, style, clothes and longevity, health, and happiness. September brings in another season of catwalks, so what better time than now to explore innovation, fashion, style, and all things to do with clothes. Here are some of the questions we will be getting curious about: — We get curious as to how does fashion changes as we age. Does it act as a mirror to our evolving identities? — Can fashion and design industries cater to the diverse style preferences of an ageing population while remaining innovative and relevant? — We ask can technology revolutionise clothing, enhancing comfort, mobility, and even emotional well-being? — We ask, is ageless fashion the way forward? — We want to find out whether cultural and societal attitudes towards ageing and fashion exist, and how do they differ across different regions and generations? — And is this the season of the older supermodel? Looking forward to having you join us on out next #curiosity theme. #ageingintelligence #voiceglobal #fashion #maturefashion #fashioinnovation

Ever pause to think about the ripple effect of your wardrobe choices on our planet? 🌏💭 In a heartening shift, the younger generations—Millennials and Gen Z—are leading the charge against fast fashion's environmental toll, opting for more eco-conscious decisions. They're not just talking the talk; their growing preference for secondhand treasures has ignited a global surge in the demand for pre-loved fashion. This isn't a fleeting trend; projections suggest the market for used clothing could grow eleven times faster than traditional retail by 2025. 🌟♻️ But the story doesn't end there. The rise of digital platforms is making it easier than ever to choose quality, uniqueness, and sustainability, all while keeping our Earth in mind. This booming interest in sustainable solutions, coupled with leaps in technology, is paving the way for innovations we've only begun to dream of. Feeling inspired by this green wave in fashion? Another excerpt from Fashion revolution week 2023 virtual talk on how to shift consumer behaviour to encourage #sustaible #consumption Question asked was: Do you have to break the stereotype that #sustainableclothes aren't appealing or is it finally changed? Elisabeth Gudmundson: It has finally changed because of 2 reasons 1. The #innovation of the new #fabrics 2. Jeans brands also make #jeans that are just as good or better looking than most jeans brands. What a fantastic point, and a relief for the fashion industry to be quick to #adapt to the need for sustainable clothing. This SNL skit perfectly captures the issues of fast fashion and its unethical conditions. Fast fashion has been the norm, it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the harsh working conditions, underpayment, and poor treatment of the people who are making the clothes we wear. Often we forget that someone somewhere is paying the price. Despite this, people are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of their purchases on other people and the planet as a whole, and slow fashion and secondhand options are gaining popularity. We created Flashee to make it easier to discover small brands who share the same values as you, and offer high-quality ethically-made pieces from multiple small apparel brands all in one place. We’re a community-first platform where users can create and share content about the brands they love, inspire others to support small clothing brands, and earn rewards. By matching users with brands they align with and elevating the presence of small brands through our platform, we’re hoping to provide an alternative to fast fashion and contribute to the slow fashion movement. If you’re a slow fashion enthusiast like we are, follow along with us to stay updated on when we launch new features! #SlowFashion #Sustainability #SmallBrandSupport #SustainableFashion #FastFashionSolution
