Gratitude brings so much positivity into our lives, both at home and in our work. As tutors, we get to see the ups and downs of learning every day. Today, I want to take a moment to talk about some things that make me feel thankful: 1. The Joy of Learning: Seeing students' faces light up when they understand something new, or when they're eager to learn more, is amazing. Each time they have that "aha!" moment, it reminds me why I love teaching. 2. Building Relationships: Getting to know my students and their families is incredibly rewarding. It's great to be able to make a positive difference in their lives and celebrate their successes together. 3. The Chance to Grow: Every day brings its own challenges, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and improving. Being able to adapt and develop as a tutor is something I appreciate. An infant learns naturally. Things like, “When I cry, Mommy and Daddy appear.” Of course, it’s not a rational thought at that point, but experientially it learns “how life works.” Another example is a toddler learning to walk. Everyone thinks it’s so cute and smiles, ooos and ahhhs and laughs in a loving, knowing way when the young one falls and shakily tries again. Learning occurring. The child gets to kindergarten, and no one has to tell it to learn. Curiosity leads. This learning is natural. Curiosity is natural. At some point, much of the fun around learning goes away. Eventually, we are taught, we can do something wrong, make mistakes, fail, and oh my, that’s not good. Lots of repercussions ensue. What if … Instead … We remember: Trying, falling down, learning, curiosity are natural, beautiful aspects of our humanity. What if when someone “fails” or “falls” we laugh in a loving way, smile at least in a loving way, enjoy with the other person this whole process? Some of us have been taught a technique to applaud for mis-falls probably because we inherently know the value in that. But it’s not authentic (in my experience) love and appreciation and acknowledgement for being curious, trying something new, learning, and repeating. It’s just to try to help us feel better on top of feeling inept or doing something wrong. But what if we allowed the appreciation to arise from within and recognize that this beautiful being gets to learn how to be more fully human? #wisdomaryleading #nonduality #consciousleadership #futureofwork
