During Pride Season in Canada, take a moment to learn about Dario, a Canadian volunteer currently living in Toronto. Almost 30 years ago, a compassionate group of people helped him escape persecution in Bosnia for being a LGBTQI+ individual by sponsoring him to come to Canada. Their kindness changed his life forever, and he is now paying it forward. He joined a private sponsorship group along with his partner, Rodney. The group is working closely with Rainbow Railroad staff to welcome a LGBTQI+ refugee in search of a better life here in Canada, just as Dario was welcomed so many years ago. Canada is proud to work with organizations like Rainbow Railroad, which has been resettling LGBTQI+ refugees through private sponsorship for almost a decade.
