🚀 Crafting Our New Mission Statement: Shaping Our Future Together 🚀 I'm excited to share a significant milestone for Goodwill of South Mississippi - the crafting of a new mission statement for our organization. In a world that's constantly evolving, it's crucial to revisit our purpose and ensure it aligns with our values and the needs of those we serve. Our mission statement is more than just words; it's our guiding star, the compass that directs our actions, and the foundation upon which we build a brighter future. We believe that a mission statement isn't just for us—it's an invitation for everyone to join us in our mission. It's a call to action, a shared purpose that unites us toward a common goal. And with that, our new mission statement at Goodwill of South Mississippi is: Goodwill provides job skills training, employment, and supportive services for individuals with barriers to a sustainable career path, resulting in stronger families and communities. #MissionStatement #CompanyCulture #TogetherWeAchieve #Goodwill #PeopleFirst

My biggest early career mistake was to be a people pleaser. I wanted everyone to like me all the time. It’s a mistake all too common for Dons, and Italians and racialized minorities (i.e. Sicilians ) for mainly two reasons: 1. We often operate in areas where we are the One and Only. Hence the extra need to always please the majority in order to gain acceptance. 2. Knowing that opportunities will only come to us if we can always act the part of a “model Italian”. But this hurts us more than we realize. Being a people pleaser means: ✅ We never take risks or take on bold initiatives for fear of ruffling someone’s feathers. Hence we never end up making an impact by constantly staying neutral. When Jr. wanted to lead the Dimeo family? At first, I rolled over. ✅ We don’t set boundaries. Jr., my own uncle, tried to have me whacked for gods sake, and I took care of him and even paid for his retirement care. ✅ No one knows what your values are, and what you stand for. Playing all sides rarely gets you respect and trust. Remember when Tony B almost started a war with New York against my wishes? The ugatz. ✅ The right people will always notice your passion and drive, even if a few take it as an affront. Be Bold. Be Authentic. Anything else is just a waste of time

Connecting people and organizations with lightning prediction via the most advanced weather service in the world. Toward a safer planet!
Something I’m extremely proud of: We took a big risk and went on an epic adventure. 3 years ago, Allison and I sold or stored everything we owned, remodeled a salvaged travel trailer, packed up our 4 kids, and hit the road for 18 months. I had taken a role in a nonprofit teaching ministry for people struggling in their faith. I love the long version of people’s stories. And in-person hangouts are far better than phone or video calls when you’re pouring out your heart. Because people in crises of faith deserve conversations instead of answers. The kind of conversations that take seriously what they’ve seen and heard. And their questions. So, for a year and a half (a year after COVID started), we lived like mission-focused nomads. I created theological, teaching, and resource content remotely and visited network members anywhere I could on our travel trails. We moved our backyard sometimes daily, sometimes every 2 weeks, and a few times after a few months. The kids got to see 15 states, the Everglades, the Rio Grande River Gorge, the Palo Duro Canyon, and dozens of state and national parks, to name a few. We LOVED it. It could have been a train wreck. The kids could have hated it. It could have been a failed experiment. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t a money-making business, so I can’t say we finished in the black financially, but the stories, the connections, and the adventures were well worth the struggle. I wish we could have kept going, but my boys were ready for baseball and we needed to get into better paying careers. We all define wins differently. For Allison and me, adventure is part of that equation. We believe our journey was an incredible and a formative experience for our children. And the kids actually miss it! Are you willing to take the risk and go for what you dream of? Are you willing to sacrifice comfort and predictability? And to work your tail off to make it happen? You can do it. This is a photo of our beloved rig in the shadows of the Rockies when we parked at a Harvest Hosts spot (a membership club for RVers with awesome value and opportunities to meet amazing people and businesses). #YouCanDoIt #Inspiration #RemoteWork

One of the best aspects of my job is that I get to tell so many different stories of success. How are you celebrating the successes of the people you work with?

Last month, my husband won the lottery. "Oh wow, we can't cash this out." Those were the magical words at the gas station, sending us on a four-hour rollercoaster of "Are we millionaires?" and "What does this mean?" We always joke about documenting everything at work in case someone wins the lottery and quits. Well, guess what? Even with a lottery win, I wouldn't quit my job (My husband wasn't surprised; bless him!) I love what I do at Quandary Consulting Group and the people I work with. It's challenging, keeps me growing, and sparks genuine excitement. No, we aren't “quit-your-job-rich”, but we did win a little bit more than they can cash out at a gas station. Here's the real question: Would YOU quit your job if you won the lottery? Or are you already living the life you want? If quitting is your answer, what's one small step you can take TODAY to move closer to a fulfilling career? What if you could ditch the Sunday scaries and embrace Mondays? What are your thoughts? Share in the comments!

"DeAnne's motto should be, 'Get a life, just make for D@x% sure it's the one you want.'" - This is an excellent quote from a client struggling to find a role that worked with her life and the desire to sail. BTW, she got it all! Ask me how? #careercoachingtips #careergoals
