Among these, B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) has emerged as a promising target, leading to the development of innovative immune approaches. ✳️ Immunotherapies leveraging chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered T-cells and bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) have garnered significant attention in MM treatment, demonstrating superior potential over conventional regimens. Recent clinical trials underscore their efficacy, positioning them as pivotal players in MM management. ✳️ However, while CAR-T and BsAbs targeting BCMA offer breakthrough potential, their integration into clinical practice presents challenges. New study highlights benefits of CRT-D in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy patients! Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) has long been heralded as a breakthrough for heart failure patients with electrical desynchrony. A recent meta-analysis comparing CRT with implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (CRT-D) to CRT with pacemaker only (CRT-P) in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) patients sheds light on its efficacy. The study, pooling data from 13 studies and over 61,000 patients, found that CRT-D significantly lowers the risk of all-cause mortality compared to CRT-P (pooled HR 0.74; 95% CI: 0.62-0.88). However, this benefit was not observed in patients older than 75 years. While CRT-D didn't show a significant reduction in cardiovascular mortality, its impact on overall survival underscores its importance in managing NICM.
