What I see in my character is hospitality and knew it was the right place to be, as a very communicative and expressive person; I enjoy being with people and communicating with them, so I felt this was the right place. So, I started, and here we go, I’m here for more than 25 years. 2. What is your first stand-out experience when working at Canopy? Anything that stood out to you more than other workplaces? Well, Canopy was the right place straightaway. I had the kind of feeling that I was at home, so it was the right job for me. So, since then, I’ve been here, enjoying it and putting all of my passion into the job. 3. Everyone can see that! So if you can give any advice to anyone who is looking to work at Canopy, what advice would you give? Try to be yourself, positive and passionate, because this place needs people with passion, the experience doesn’t really matter, you can get it anywhere, but the most important thing is the passion you have towards your job. 4. Do you think that comes from Canopy London City with everyone willing to help, so if you don’t have experience people will guide you on the right path? Yes, exactly. If you found a passionate person, and you follow them, you’re going to love the job. Because work is not always easy, if you have passion, you may be able to handle the challenges you face better. 5. So, what was your position when you first started here, and what is your position now? Have you grown in the company? From my first position, yes. Previously, I worked in another hotel as a supervisor of public areas, and now with My superior, I went up with the position. I found the right person to guide me, she is an amazing person who has helped me a lot and we’ve known each other for more than 20 years. We used to work together in Camden and after that we moved on, she really is my support system. Sometimes, she has to handle me and pushes me to do more, when she sees that I’m not really feeling all that confident.

September 1 is National Hotel Employee Day, which recognizes the workers who keep the nation’s approximately 65,000 hotels, motels, and other lodging establishments running smoothly. The traveler accommodation industry had an annual average wage of $39,730, below the U.S. average of $61,900 for all industries combined. Of the 15 largest occupations in this industry, only lodging managers ($72,910) and general and operations managers ($90,940) had above-average wages. Several of the largest occupations in traveler accommodation had annual average wages of $40,000 per year or less, including maids and housekeeping cleaners ($31,070) and hotel, motel, and resort desk clerks ($30,150).
