For our May newsletter poll question of the month, we asked: “When you walk into a room full of people you don’t know, what is your go-to networking question for getting conversations started?” Our two most popular answers were: - (66%) Ask a general question, ex: Where are you from? Is this your first conference? What do you do for a living? And, - (26%) Ask a question specific to the conference that you’re at, ex: Did you see the plenary speaker? What would YOUR answer be to our poll question from last month? Let us know below! 👇 Want to receive our monthly newsletters and participate in the monthly poll questions? There is still time to register for the next cycle of the Career Connections Program by Monday, July 15th! The program is designed for League members at all stages in their career to “seek guidance” or “provide encouragement” as part of a pair, where one member acts as a guide, informally helping the other member to explore new perspectives and ways of thinking about a professional topic or career-related goal. This networking opportunity is an easy way to volunteer a few hours of time to support a fellow League member while gaining mentorship experience (as a Guide) and/or to receive guidance in working toward a professional goal or next career step (as an Explorer). Guide/Explorer pairs connect with one another over a 3-4 month cycle. You can sign up as a Guide, an Explorer, or both! 15 July 2024 - Registration 1 August 2024 - Program Starts An Ongoing Online Event https://lnkd.in/gXSTVuif #LinkUpWithTheLeague #GlobalLeadershipLeague #CareerConnections #Community #GlobalLeadership #EducationAbroad

In the latest submission to Sophia Confidential, About to Fall Off the Change Tightrope writes: “The amount and pace of change is challenging for all to manage. As a leader, I try to support the organization with change efforts, I struggle with myself with all the changes, and I have a team that I want to support with navigating incessant change. How can I balance supporting all three of those? Does one take priority over the others? I want to convey support for the organization while also listening and asking how I can support my team, but I don't want to come across as oblivious to how hard it is, as just 'toeing the party line.' Help!.” Here’s a sneak peek at Sophia’s response: “At the risk of repeating what we’ve all heard since childhood, change is hard. But I also firmly believe that change can be really good. Yet still, even things that are good can sometimes be really hard. So now that I’ve stated the obvious let’s delve in. You’ve got three buckets that need to be kept full but you only have two arms (at best) to carry those buckets. Dropping one is an option but then which one do you set down? Which one takes priority, as you rightly ask.” For Sophia’s full response, go to: https://lnkd.in/g_GVvEzr 👇 Comment below on what advice you would give Feeling the Years. #SophiaConfidential #Leadership #GlobalLeadership #GlobalEducation #StudyAbroad #LeadershipDevelopment

It truly was an honor to co-present with Kate Moore, Ed.D., Noreen Lucey, and Fiona Harrigan this morning. My graduation gift to myself was coming here to be part of a Reflexive Journal Writing session, an idea that grew out of my role leading the League Lasso Writer's Circle for the Global Leadership League. If you are interested in finding an outlet for writing, please let me know. All are welcome. Am also grateful to be volunteering for the International Internship Conference, a gathering of amazing leaders who support initiatives for students to explore their college to career pathways through high-impact programs.
