🌈 Celebrating #PrideMonth at the GLBT Historical Society! We teamed up with Forward Global, to host an inspiring #Pride Happy Hour at the nation's first LGBTQ+ history and culture museum, home to the original 1978 Rainbow Flag. Speakers Roberto Ordeñana with GLBT Historical Society, Imani Rupert-Gordon with NCLR – National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Katie Hultquist with Outright International, highlighted critical issues facing LGBTQ+ communities worldwide. They emphasized the need for intersectionality in the LGBTQ movement to foster community integration and progress, alongside preserving LGBTQ history and combating legislative challenges like the rise in anti-LGBTQ bills. The program concluded with a call to action for increased philanthropic support and inclusive policy-making to ensure equity and justice for all LGBTQ+ individuals globally.

It’s time to prioritize our collective mental health and ensure every individual has what they need to flourish! Here are a few ways we can all show our support for LGBTQ+ youth according to The Trevor Project’s 2024 U.S. National Survey. 🌱 Check out The Trevor Project's full survey at trvr.org/survey-2024 🔗 #LGBTQ+ #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealth

Can confirm: "Scott’s gifts to LGBTQ organizations have been transformative in what they have allowed organizations to do. Large unrestricted gifts empower LGBTQ organizations to pursue new & significant opportunities that have the potential to broaden the movement’s impact, (especially) in light of the current context LGBTQ communities are facing. When looking at the gap between the scope of gifts given to LGBTQ organizations & gifts given to nonprofit organizations in general, a primary takeaway for funders from Movement Advancement Project (MAP)'s report is: Do not shift your giving away from other types of organizations, but also give more boldly to LGBTQ organizations to close the gap." It is a critical time for bold action!

According to a 2024 report from the Public Religion Research Institute, nearly 30% of Gen Z adults identify as LGBTQ+. When we talk about what it looks like to support and care for the next generations of our LGBTQ+ community, it is imperative that we recognize the unique needs of our young people who are coming of age in an era of more visibility than ever before—and a hostile political climate. We need to continue to make sure that LGBTQ+ young people are connected with supportive programs and services, both at school and in their local community, that can help them navigate their identities. We will continue to fight for full lived and legal equality so that LGBTQ+ young people learn about rather than experience discrimination in the classroom. #LGBTQ #Equality #ProtectLGBTQYouth #LGBTQYouth

Many of us don’t have grown children to help us as we age. However, with a long history of fighting discrimination, we have built strength, resilience, and humor that will serve us well in later years. It's #Pride Month! Take action for older #LGBTQ+ adults. The problem: "We know that local aging services and supports are critical for the LGBTQ+ community to succeed as they age. However, fear due to a lifetime of discrimination and current lived experiences prevents many LGBTQ+ elders from accessing the care and support they need to thrive." Pride Without Prejudice: Pride PEI Pride PEI's claim of fostering an inclusive community through their events starkly contrasts with their support for antisemitic policies, alienating Jewish LGBTQ+ members and their allies. What They Say: Pride PEI aims to create an inclusive community through their annual festival, parade, and ongoing social events, education, and advocacy. What They Do: Exclusionary Practices: By endorsing a BDS policy, Pride PEI actively promotes antisemitism. Creating a hostile environment for Jewish LGBTQ+ community members and their allies, Pride PEI has encouraged participants to display divisive pro-Palestinian symbols whose use recently has been to intimidate and incite. Selective Solidarity: Their support for a movement that marginalizes Jewish individuals starkly contradicts their professed commitment to inclusivity and respect. We call on Pride PEI to practice what they preach and ensure a truly inclusive and safe space for all. #PrideWithoutPrejudice #Inclusivity #PracticeWhatYouPreach #PridePEI #JewishPride
