This Pride month, Rcoz is thinking of those who can’t always receive support from their family in their journey of self discovery. The Trevor Project, a leading organization dedicated to suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ youth, reveals that LGBTQ+ youth who feel high levels of social support from their families are less likely to attempt suicide. In fact, those who experience strong support attempt suicide at less than half the rate of those who feel moderate or low levels of support. This statistic emphasizes the significant role that families play in the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth. By fostering open communication, and emphasizing support, families can truly become a lifeline for their LGBTQ+ family members #Rcoz #MentalHealthAwareness #PrideMonth #LoveIsLove #AcceptanceMatters #ShareYourStory #youthstories #LGBTQAStories #Acceptance #YouAreNotAlone #June #ComingOut #Pride #Gay

The Importance of Clothing Choices for LGBTQ youth. Why are they so important? (Vlog series 6 of 6) Clothing and Advocacy Finally, it's important to remember that clothing choices are just one piece of the puzzle. To fully support our LGBTQ youth, we need to be advocates for them in all areas of their life. This means creating safe and inclusive spaces at home, school, and in the community. It also means staying informed about LGBTQ issues and being willing to stand up for what is right, even when it's uncomfortable or challenging. In conclusion, clothing choices may seem like a small thing, but they can make a big difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth. By allowing our kids to express themselves through their clothing, we are empowering them, supporting their success, and sending them the message that they are loved and accepted for who they are. Let's continue to advocate for our LGBTQ youth and provide them with the tools and resources they need to thrive. #lgbtqcommunity #lgbtqpride #Pride #loveislove #apparelhasnogender #protecttransrights #ProtectTransYouth #lgbtqyouthh #parentingtips #kidsclothing #freetobeme #allkidsplus #kidsapparel #makingadifference

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. Last week, we shared the first in our series of tips on how you can be a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and how checking your privilege helps you to be more supportive to all marginalised groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. 👉 Allyship Tip 2: Call it out! 👈 Don’t underestimate the power of calling out micro-aggressions, people using incorrect pronouns, deadnaming, inappropriate jokes, or general discriminatory comments. It shouldn’t be the responsibility of members of the LGBTQ+ community to have to always stand up for themselves and point out when people are wrong – it’s everyone’s responsibility! Whether there are LGBTQ+ people present or not, calling out this behaviour every time it happens will hopefully lead to a safer and more comfortable environment for your LGBTQ+ colleagues. #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. This month, we’ve been sharing tips on how you can be a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community, including how checking your own privilege helps you to be more supportive, and that you shouldn’t underestimate the power of calling out discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. 👉 Allyship Tip 3: Everyone is different! 👈 Meeting one trans person, means you’ve met one trans person. This goes for anyone within the LGBTQ+ community (or any marginalised community for that matter!). Everyone’s lived experiences and situations are completely different and each person should be treated as an individual. Don’t make assumptions about how that person wants to be referred to, how much information they feel comfortable sharing, or how much support they need, based on other LGBTQ+ people you have met. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and as an individual, so take the time to understand each person. #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

The Importance of Clothing Choices for LGBTQ youth. Why are they so important? (Vlog series 4 of 6) Clothing and Society: Unfortunately, society can be a harsh and judgmental place, especially when it comes to LGBTQ youth. Clothing can be a way for our kids to assert themselves and push back against ignorance and prejudice. However, it can also be a source of anxiety and fear. For example, trans students may fear being harassed or bullied in bathrooms or locker rooms that don't match their gender identity. As parents and caretakers, we can help our kids navigate these challenges by advocating for them and providing them with resources and support. #lgbtqcommunity #lgbtqpride #Pride #loveislove #apparelhasnogender #protecttransrights #ProtectTransYouth #lgbtqyouth #parenting #KidsClothing #freetobeme

General Counsel & Director of Legal Services, Sponsored by Orrick, for A New Way of Life Reentry Project
𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 On this National Coming Out Day, I'm taking a moment to share a part of me that may not be universally known in my professional circle—I am bisexual. While I don't make an active effort to hide it, there's an inherent camouflage that my straight-passing family structure offers. And yes, sometimes it feels misplaced discussing personal identities in professional settings. However, I firmly believe that sharing our authentic selves can bridge understanding and compassion. Studies have consistently shown that when people realize they have loved ones who identify as LGBTQ+, it becomes more challenging to hold onto prejudiced or uninformed views. By sharing, I aim to emphasize that the legal community, like any other, is diverse and enriched by the myriad of experiences its members bring to the table. I recognize the privilege I have, given that many in our LGBTQ+ community cannot choose when and how they disclose this facet of themselves. I share not to detract from their experiences but to stand in solidarity with them. I am proud of my identity, and I cherish the vibrant and resilient LGBTQ+ community. If my coming out serves as an avenue for connection, support, and further understanding within our legal community, then it's a step worth taking. Happy #NationalComingOutDay to all, irrespective of where you might be on your own personal journey. Let's continue fostering environments where everyone can feel seen, heard, and valued.

Tidbit for your Day | We are inspired by innovative entrepreneurs like Matthieu Jost, who transformed a personal experience into a solution (misterb&b) that fosters a more inclusive community for the LGBTQ+ population. "We want people to be able to connect within the community and have safe experiences. We verify all of our users. We also deliver and implement tools to help people connect who are not present on mainstream platforms. For example, you can find places to stay in the gay district of a city. We have a filter for moods. If you’re talkative, you can find a talkative host. If you prefer not to chat, you can find a more introverted host. There’s also a filter for sharing interests with the hosts. About 65% of our users are solo travelers—we’re really in the business of fighting loneliness. We’re building community. It can be isolating to be LGBTQ+."
