The Global Fashion Conference Organising Committee has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of Structured Abstracts (1,000 words), Short Papers (6,000 words) until the 15th of May. It was also decided to offer the opportunity to make submissions in three more languages apart from English. The languages are Portuguese, Spanish and French. In a world where division seems to grow, GFC wants to become a platform for the Global South to meet the Global North. Only through dialogue may we set the basis for a sustainable world where freedom and justice may prevail. We shall start from the world we work in supporting the Fashion Industry one the most globalized industries. #gfc2024 #callforpapers #FashionSustainability #CircularEconomy #FashionResarch #FashionInnovation

Shouldn't the UN and International Trade organizations have, already, made it a law/regulation for all its trade members that no "big" designer can copy ethnic enterprises' products, manufacture it with non-natural materials and dyes, and using non-original artisans' work, selling them at way below pricing and crippling original investors, working towards assisting women, in countries of Africa? Colonialism of this sort, still flourishes, never allowing the countries they have already raped and impoverished, to ever raise their heads in their economies. Wicked, wicked! Read about Zara and Steve Madden doing just that! https://lnkd.in/gKcDcux9 Pages 271 .... (Also a good book to advise new fashion designers never to get caught to the likes of the Bart Solomon's of the world!)

To transition to a circular society we need many more companies like this, United Repair Centre. Companies that facilitate repairs so we can enjoy our products longer, much longer. A repaired garment has in average a 1,3 years longer use life according to research made by WRAP. But it's not only textiles we need to repair, we need to add many business performing various kinds of repairs, both small and large, in what today is called the reverse supply chain but that should in the future be a normal part of a products life cycle. Let yourself be inspired by this BBC mini documentary, the circular economy is so much more interesting and rewarding than the linear, especially if you also see the systemic advantage of integrating social substantiality in the solution!
