Great to see this work on #patientexperience of ICU care in India and Bangladesh now published by Rebecca Inglis and collaborators. It echoes much of what our Kenyan colleagues have seen and heard on Neonatal wards and much for the emergency, critical care community and other communities to think about when trying to provide people-centred hospital care in low resource settings - there are some more simple, less expensive opportunities for improvement that might also help keep patients safe. https://lnkd.in/eg2zinWC

South Asian countries face the colossal challenge of tackling the massive burden of diabetes and other endocrine disorders. These patients grossly outnumber the specialists trained to deal with these conditions. A trained cadre of diabetes specialist nurses (DSN) and endocrine specialist nurses (ESN) might help bridge this gap. Exploring the perception of DSN/ESN among South Asian doctors will help to understand their role, responsibilities and future prospects Read our latest publication on Endocrine nursing in South Asian Countries https://lnkd.in/ge-WdPy7

Apollo 24|7 Apollo 24/7 Adult & Paediatric Emergency Services Apollo Hospitals Dear Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent experience I had at your medicine outlets at MG Road Indre on 18th March 2024 in the evening past 7 pm. As a customer, I have always valued the services provided by Apollo 247, but unfortunately, my recent encounter has left me utterly dissatisfied. The purpose of my visit to your outlet was to purchase some essential medications. However, instead of receiving the quality service I have come to expect, I was met with rude and unprofessional behaviour from your sales team. Not only did they take an excessive amount of time to attend to me, but they also engaged in tactics to prioritize certain customers over others, completely disregarding the value of everyone's time. Moreover, when I requested access to the CCTV footage to address a particular concern, I was shockingly denied this basic right. This refusal to provide transparency only serves to further erode trust in your brand and raises serious questions about the integrity of your operations. I believe the said footage is still available as evidence of my complaint. It is disheartening to see such a lack of respect for customers and their time, especially from a reputed establishment like Apollo 247. As a firm believer in accountability and quality service, I cannot let this matter go unnoticed. Therefore, I am compelled to share my experience publicly to shed light on the unacceptable conduct of your staff and management. I urge you to take immediate action to rectify these issues and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Customers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and Apollo 247 must uphold these principles at all times. I eagerly await your response and hope to see tangible steps taken to address these concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter. #CustomerServiceFail #UnprofessionalBehavior #PoorServiceExperience #TransparencyMatters #CustomerExperience #Accountability #ServiceStandards #BrandReputation #CustomerFeedback #QualityService

Did you know That the invention of the blood pressure monitor transformed medical practice. In 1881, Samuel Siegfried Karl Ritter von Basch invented the sphygmomanometer. But in 1896, Scipione Riva-Rocci improved it with the easy-to-use cuff-based version of the mercury sphygmomanometer. This device allowed for accurate, non-invasive blood pressure measurements, a significant advancement from the previous pulse-feeling method. This breakthrough identified hypertension as a major health risk, leading to better diagnosis and treatment. Early detection and management of high blood pressure have since saved countless lives and improved patient outcomes, making the sphygmomanometer a cornerstone in healthcare. #tgif #didyouknow #uknurse #uknurses

Hot off the heels of #WorldAsthmaDay2024, I attended The Association of Respiratory Nurses (ARNS) Conference this week in sunny Brighton. Nurses play a critical role in transforming care for the 1 in 5 people living with a lung condition and so it was encouraging to hear how nurses across the country are innovating to improve diagnostics, care pathways and access to treatments, for the benefit of patients and the planet. Despite these pockets of best practice, I was particularly struck by the stories of patients still struggling to get timely access to diagnostics and optimised treatment. The UK has the worst death rate for lung conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) than anywhere else in western Europe, and so we still have more to do to scale this best practice and improve patient care. This is why we joined the Taskforce for Lung Health in calling for urgent action by government, the NHS and national decision makers to create a national respiratory action plan to shift the UK from laggard to leader in care and treatment, on World Asthma Day 2024.

Did You Know? The invention of the electrocardiogram (ECG) revolutionized heart care! In 1903, Dutch physiologist Willem Einthoven developed the first practical ECG machine, which records the electrical activity of the heart. Before the ECG, diagnosing heart conditions was challenging and often imprecise. Einthoven's invention allowed doctors to monitor and understand heart rhythms and electrical impulses, leading to more accurate diagnoses of heart conditions such as arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac issues. This innovation provided a non-invasive and reliable method to assess heart health, making it an essential tool in cardiology. The ECG quickly became a standard procedure in medical practice, improving patient care and outcomes. Today, the ECG remains a fundamental diagnostic tool, helping doctors around the world save lives by detecting heart conditions early and guiding treatment plans. #didyouknow #tgif #uknurse #uknurses #uknursing
