In November the entire world came together to do good, and we saw many creative and innovative campaigns that encouraged generosity. With the Chartered Institute of Fundraising relaunching the National Fundraising Awards for 2024, this is your opportunity to showcase the hard work, dedication, passion and innovation of people who worked on these campaigns and to #give a massive ‘thank you’ to your friends, teams and colleagues. The 12 categories, which are free to enter, are open to all organisations, campaigns and individuals working within the UK. · It could be a campaign that you have worked on that you are particularly proud of. · It could be a young person that has gone above and beyond to support your Charity. · It could be a new member of the team who’s new to fundraising that you’d like to say a ‘thank you’. · It could be a volunteer who’s made a major contribution without remuneration. · Or it could be a supplier that has demonstrated a true commitment to improving the fundraising capacities of the charities that it supports, The deadline for nominations is fast approaching with less than 2 weeks to go so go to their portal to find out more about this fantastic event and get your nominations in before 5pm, Friday 26 January: https://bit.ly/3uqcCs8 Find out more: https://bit.ly/3QY0eXY #NationalFundraisingAwards

Third Sector ran a Pay Study in the charity sector for 2023 and the findings were extremely interesting. Due to the negative feedback in the media around senior pay at some of it's largest UK charities back in 2014, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations encouraged charities to show transparency around the salaries of their highest paid employees. But from Third Sector's findings nearly a decade on, a large proportion of these are still keeping their cards close to their chests with only 27 out of 100 identifying their highest earners. That's 29% down from the 2021 figures. Why is this? and what are they hiding?

The most important question in corporate partnerships 🌟 Can you answer why a partnership with your charity (specifically yours, not just any charity) will benefit a partner's business? You don't have a value proposition if the answer is no. Stop reaching out and work on answering this question as your primary objective. 🚀 'It's good for their CSR' is not a specific offering. Don't bother with corporate partnerships if you aren't considering their needs. Save your time and resources and look for funding elsewhere. Or work on your offering first—before reaching out. You'll be much more successful if you do. 💡 If you want to know how to win partners successfully join our Win More Partners course in July. Details are on my website. #sorrynotsorry #valueproposition #corporatepartnerships

Fractional CMO for Behavioral Health Companies + Organizations | Founder of 14Minds | Nonprofit Marketing Consultant
I read a post today by Evan Wildstein that really made me pause. In short, he was (justifiably) calling out consultants who are chock full of fundraising advice when they've never actually done any fundraising themselves. I really had to stop and think. Am I guilty of giving advice on topics I don't have a right to talk about? I've worked with nonprofits for well over a decade, but I have never been a fundraiser. After careful consideration, here is the conclusion that I've come to – and I hope all of you who have been reading my posts on this platform will agree. All of my content ultimately supports and facilitates the work of fundraisers who are doing the best they can to succeed under difficult circumstances. The way so many nonprofits market themselves (or don't) makes the job of the fundraising team so much harder. The fundraisers often have to: 1. Identify their potential donor and tell them that their organization exists 2. Convince them the organization is solving a real problem that no one else is addressing effectively 3. Demonstrate how the organization helps with this problem 4. Tell the potential donor how they can help, specifically 5. Make the pitch for funds That's a lot of work for a role that is primarily relationship-driven and requires a significant investment of resources. If the organization takes responsibility for 1-3, fundraisers would be able to do so much more with their roles. Evan Wildstein I hope you would agree! #nonprofit #fundraising

Last month I took part in the launch of the Charity Commission's new five year strategy. In concise, simple language the strategy sets out the mission and priorities of the Commission, which are informed by the principles of fairness, balance, and independence. It provides valuable context on the scope and importance of the Third sector and advocates for more data collection, collaboration and innovation. Whether you are a trustee, a volunteer, an employee, or a donor, all of us with a stake in the health of the Third Sector should appreciate that a responsive, competent, and independent regulator is essential to maintaining public trust in and support for the work we do. So please take five minutes to read this important document. #charityleadership #charitylaw #publicservice https://lnkd.in/e_kfUKmw

Aligning and leading stakeholders in Charities, across Finance, Business and IT; Skilled and experienced in Project Management, Process Review, Implementation and coaching
I was engaged in a bit of a discussion this week about raising one's profile on LinkedIn, within your target market. I'm looking to connect with #charities and #nfp organisations, so I tag them. I also sometimes nudge some contacts and ask them to share or comment, as many people are connected to different charities. Sometimes, though, commenting on a discussion from someone in a very different market can make you stand out, or be noticed by just one person who wants to know more. So, I will continue to jump in to odd conversations, seemingly unconnected with my work and just interfere in things that interest me. I like a good debate and, thankfully, most of what is on LinkedIn is a healthy debate. It's a while since I've blocked someone for aggressive and out-of-order comments and, of course, I don't know if someone's taken umbrage at my comments and blocked me. Do you comment on things you're interested in, that have little to do with your work? And, for those who are interested, I'm looking to connect with CEOs of charities and NFPs who need support in structuring their operations to improve the management of costs and reduction of risks. As that's quite a wide statement, please get in touch to find out more. [comment below or message me]
