What is a Crémant? Crémant distinguishes itself from Champagne by virtue of its production outside the Champagne region. However, it shares the prestigious méthode traditionnelle with Champagne, undergoing secondary fermentation in the bottle—a process absent in Prosecco. If you've savored sparkling wine, chances are you've relished Crémant at some point. Offering effervescence akin to Champagne but with a more budget-friendly appeal, Crémant follows the same méthode traditionnelle, providing a delightful effervescence without the hefty price tag of its more sophisticated counterpart. These sparkling gems are limited to specific regions, some renowned for their still wines. Notable among them are: Crémant de Bourgogne Crémant de Loire Crémant de Limoux Crémant de Jura Crémant d’Alsace Crémant de Bordeaux Crémant de Die – in the Rhône Valley Crémant de Savoie Venturing beyond French borders, Crémant de Luxembourg also stands as a testament to the international allure of this sparkling tradition.

PROSECCO DOCG: officially known as Prosecco Superiore DOCG, represents the pinnacle of quality within the Prosecco wine category. DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, which translates to Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin, the highest level of classification for Italian wines. Produced in a select area of northeastern Italy, primarily in the hills of the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions, DOCG Prosecco is made using the finest Glera grapes cultivated in vineyards with specific geographical and climatic characteristics. ETNA WINES OF DISTINCTION Mount Etna wines grown on the volcanic soils from nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio for reds), and catarratto and carricante for whites are gaining popularity in Italy and in Europe. If the entire Sicilian wine region has experienced a wave of dynamism in recent years, bringing regional wines to the forefront in both domestic and international markets, the epicentre of this renaissance started from the Etna region. Yet some wineries make and market value wine according to Tre Bichieri’s Berebene 2024 guide. You may want to make a note of these brands and look for them in the future. Vintages often releases value wines from Etna and Sicily in general. Several agencies in Ontario represent Sicilian wineries. They may bring in consignment wines from Etna. Bordeaux has maintained its stronghold with an increase to 43.0% of trade by value, compared to the previous week’s 40.8%. The top three most active wines were from Bordeaux. Burgundy also experienced anincrease, its share of trade rising to 21.7% this week, up from 20.3% last week. This increase was primarily driven by the 2008 and 1996 vintages of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti Grand Cru trading. The Rhône had a strong week, rising to 3.3% compared to 1.5% last week, buoyed by the 2016, 2011, 2006 and 2003 vintages of Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Hermitage, La Chapelle Rouge all trading. Tuscany also experienced an increase in trade, its trade share rising to 10.0%, compared to last week’s 8.4%. This boost can be partly explained by Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido, Bolgheri 2019 securing the fourth spot in the most active wines list this week. Its 2013 and 2018 vintages also traded over the week. On the other hand, despite Louis Roederer, Cristal 2015 featuring in the list of most active wines this week, Champagne experienced a decline in trade share, falling to 11.0% from last week’s 12.1%.

The first step in selecting which good Italian wines to drink is reading the label…
Business Development Manager Graphic Art & Industry Print presso OKI Europe Ltd | knowledge: High and Light Production Small Format | Wide Format | Label Printing Market
Saturday, May 4th, OKI took center stage at the "Giornata del Vignaiolo" (Winemaker's Day), an opportunity organized for OKI by our colleague Massimo Zoratti. The event took place at the regional wine bar in Offida, in the former convent of San Francesco. Both Massimo and I had the opportunity to meet with the most important Marche wine producers, who were able to evaluate and experience OKI TECHNOLOGY firsthand. An incredible turnout: nearly 1000 visitors! The reason we wanted to give our post a European slant came after the statement by Massimo Palmieri, FIVI Marche (Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti) delegate: "In the future, the event will also be held nationally and in Europe, as a valuable moment of reflection on the figure of the winemaker..." I would say long live Italian excellence!! A special thanks to Massimo Palmieri for giving us the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of this important event and above all for being able to interview Letizia Cossignani, Vice Delegate of the FIVI Marche association. A very interesting interview that we will share in the next post. 🍷✨ #OKIEurope #OKIPro1050 #TonerBianco #StampantiOKI #StampaEtichette #Premium #StampaOnDemand #Personalizzazione #Vino ##FIVIMarche #Vignaioliindipendenti
