Shameless repost of yesterday’s post, because it’s just that important. Fun Fact: I made this same post on my local Nextdoor app and on Facebook. I tweaked it a bit for audience and ended up getting a TON of local friends and fellow residents reaching out with local opportunities. These are people who are on the JG Wentworth commercial like, “I need to hire people like I need my cash. NOW. “🤣 So, if you’re struggling to find work, I think it’s worth reaching out to your local community. Mine is pretty darn small and I got some decent leads. So if the bills are piling; I know it may not be ideal roles, but it will be something. When I say *something*, try to think of it as an opportunity to try something completely different. Maybe something that puts you out of your comfort zone. But don’t do something that you’re going to vehemently reject every day. So when I say find *something*, find something you want to try and go for it- because this time affords you that opportunity. 🙌 Sometimes, it’s all about a positive twist on what you’ve been told a hundred times. ☺️ #positiveattitude #keepgoing

Hey all, I’ve been looking for a job since February of last year. Ideally, I’m looking for recruitment marketing, copy writing, copy editing, admin assistant, UX writer, employee communications, internal communications, HR assistant, -you get the point. I’m open. I’ve applied to over 200 jobs. Everyone from Aldi to Dort to Miller Industries to Stefanini. All locally, all onsite or hybrid positions. I try to apply to 3 to 5 roles a day, every day. What I bring to the table: ✅ Unmatched work ethic ✅ A willingness to do what needs to be done ✅ Social media expertise/analytics expertise ✅ Impeccable communication skills (both written and verbal) ✅ Multiple years of experience in industries spanning from restaurant, retail, HR, graphic design, and office expertise ✅ Bachelors degree, double major (tech writer and English language, as a science and as an art) I’m looking for reliable leads. It can be part time or full time. I am not necessarily looking for a remote role. I’m not opposed but I can read the writing on the wall and am happy to get back into the office as needed. I have one employee at The Voice Company. A lovely lady called Hema, who's too cool for LinkedIn. Hema is my finance lady. She sends out invoices, follows up on them if necessary, files my expenses, and keeps all the paperwork in order - because I suck at these things. I am now looking to hire another person. Someone who likes to get messy with the creative process. Which means that this person should have multiple skills - writing, designing (basic, but aesthetic stuff), shooting and editing reels. Am I being greedy? Yes and no. Yes, because (quite frankly), I don't have the money to pay for multiple people. And no, because I truly believe, to be a creator in 2024, you need to be able to do many things. Not be a master at all of them, sure. But the process of creation needs one to at least know how to get shit done. For example, I may be a decent copywriter, but I also know Canva well enough to mock some quick designs together. I know the basics of editing. I'm not great at either of these things, but I can get by. So, in short, applications are open. Apply only if you've read the entire job description, the fee range, and ONLY if you have a portfolio that reflects the skill sets I'm looking for. The amount of times I've seen companies hire crayons and then expecting pencils is mind boggling... As someone who acutely understands the challenges of identifying and hiring the right creative talent, this problem is avoidable. Too often Hiring managers recruit in a VACUUM thinking that all they need are crayons and to their dismay, find out that the content strategy required pencils to execute. What then follows is a desperate attempt by the "crayon" to live up to the expectation of a "pencil", often at the cost of their creative vitality and mental wellbeing. It seems obvious but ask yourself "Why does this role exist? and what creative profile would be best suited at addressing my pain points? Also helpful: ✅ Hire as a team. ✅ Include all direct stakeholders when drafting the job description ✅ Make sure the creative has at least 80% of the direct skills, expertise and experience required.
