On Monday, 1 July 2024, three changes to the Danish Competition Act will enter into force: 1) A provision allowing the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority to require notification of specific mergers even if they do not meet the usual turnover thresholds (known as the “call-in option”). 2) A market investigation tool that permits the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority to examine market structures or behaviors that may weaken competition, and grants the authority the power to issue behavioral remedies to address the identified problems. 3) A revision of the principles for imposing civil fines on businesses, bringing them in line with EU standards.
