CP+ achieved its best-ever prediction accuracy for USD IG bonds last month, as measured by the deviation of CP+ predictions versus institutional-size traded levels. The 0.89 bps median deviation from traded levels* achieved in May 2024 highlights the efficacy of the continuous improvements to the CP+ prediction algorithm and data sources. Even when accounting for market conditions by expressing prediction deviation as a percentage of bid/ask (B/A) spreads, CP+ outperformed in May with a prediction variance of 44% of market B/A spreads. A couple of weeks ago, I completed the Liege-Bastogne-Liege cycling race which I did for a charity, Alternative 4 Children (A4C). It was much harder than I expected, with very steep climbs (up to 20%), hail, rain but also a bit of sunshine. The spread range for USD IG—measured as the interquartile range of credit spread using CP+ Mid—is nearing a record low. From 94bps in October 2022, it decreased by 42.6% reaching 54bps last week. Spread compression is observed across the maturity curve.
