"How deep can it go?" That's a question we get asked a lot. Many AUV:s are neutrally buoyant and solely relies on forward momentum and dive planes to "drive" themselves down to a desired depth. The AUV Ålen can do the same, but it is also equipped with two independent integrated ballast tank/pump modules. These are positioned front and back to also give some pitch control. But the main advantage is that Ålen can dive statically, straight down, with zero forward speed. This gives added maneuverability and agility. Besides just being pretty cool 😊 However, this feature comes at a cost. When hovering at, let’s say 10 meters depth (= 1 Bar), the ballast pumps need to be able to empty the ballast tanks and push the water out, overcoming the surrounding water pressure fighting back. This is the parameter that will define how deep Ålen can go. To be able to give a more confident answer to the question we set up a test. A test that would push and even cross the limit of how deep we can go, so that Ålen can operate within robust and validated margins of safety. #ålen #auv #underwaterrobotics #foxpoint

TIP OF THE WEEK from The Wall 🧱 of Truth Today, we're going to dive into the often overlooked hero of your vehicle's cooling system - the radiator cap. While it may seem like a small and insignificant component, the radiator cap plays a vital role in maintaining the health and efficiency of your engine. First and foremost, a radiator cap acts as a seal, ensuring that the cooling system remains pressurized. This pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant, preventing it from evaporating too quickly and keeping your engine running at optimal temperatures. Without a properly functioning cap, the coolant could boil and escape, leading to overheating and potential damage to your engine. Additionally, the radiator cap serves as a safety valve. It is designed to release excess pressure from the cooling system, preventing any potential damage or leaks. This mechanism helps to maintain the longevity of your radiator and other cooling system components. So, think of it as a guardian, protecting your engine from any potential harm. Furthermore, a radiator cap also helps to regulate the flow of coolant between the radiator and the overflow reservoir. This process ensures that the coolant levels are maintained at the correct level, preventing any air pockets from forming within the system. By keeping the coolant well-balanced, the radiator cap contributes to the overall efficiency and performance of your vehicle. In conclusion, the radiator cap may be small, but its importance cannot be overstated. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and efficiency of your engine, preventing overheating, and safeguarding your vehicle. So, next time you pop the hood, take a moment to appreciate the unsung hero that is the radiator cap. Stay cool, radiator kings and queens! 👑🔧💪 #radiatorcap #tipoftheweek ##thewalloftruth #RadiatorKings
