Age friendly health systems address the 4 Ms: what matters most to older patients, patient mentation (mental functioning), patient mobility and medication safety. So what is age friendly dental care? What matters most to the aging community in dental services are: affordability, access and non-invasiveness. Mental functioning means: a quick visit with no stress. Patient mobility means: going to what's close by, no steps. And medication safety means: no needles, no bleeding. Think #Prevora because it delivers uniquely on all of the 4Ms.

Doctors in Western Australia are expressing concerns over the government's plan to move the primary women's and babies' hospital to a location 20 kilometers away from its current site. They believe that this relocation could result in higher mortality rates and negative health outcomes for critically ill infants. The government initially wanted to integrate the hospital with other medical facilities, but later changed the plan to place it in the Fiona Stanley complex in Murdoch. Doctors were not consulted about this decision, despite outlining the risks involved. A report from the Child and Adolescent Health Service supports keeping the hospital at its current location or nearby. It states that neonatal transfers are associated with increased mortality rates and long-term developmental problems. The government has promised to enhance neonatal facilities at the new location, but doctors argue that necessary surgery cannot be effectively replicated due to a lack of qualified doctors. Despite these concerns, the government justifies its decision based on the risks highlighted in the initial business case. #Health #AbcRadioPerth #ValerieJovanovic #Cahs #FionaStanley #Perth #TheFionaStanleyHospital #Wa #KingEdwardMemorialHospital #MsSanderson #CharlesGairdner #PerthHospitals #Kemh #Qeii #AdolescentHealthService #Sanderson #TheQeiiMedicalCentre #Murdoch #Pch #Scg #MarkMcgowan #Subiaco

Longer consults for endometriosis sufferers on the way A $49 million funding boost will see two new MBS items added in July next year for specialist gynaecological appointments. "On Friday, the Federal Government announced a $49.1 million plan to introduce two new Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items enabling extended consultation times. The changes will be rolled out on 1 July next year and will also cover conditions such as chronic pelvic pain and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It is expected the boost will fund 430,000 more services to help women to receive consultations of 45 minutes or longer. Specifically, the Medicare changes will subsidise $168.60 for a minimum of 45 minutes during a longer initial gynaecologist consultation, compared to the standard rate of $95.60." https://lnkd.in/e4yzebp4
